This is our second vintage of the flyer and she's a bit different than our 2010 vintage. the flyer is a bottling we reserve for special vineyards: maybe a vineyard we won't always have access to or maybe one where the vineyard owner asked us to make their wine, because that’s what happens here in our small community of fellow winemakers. this 2011 bottling fits the bill, from the susanna's vineyard in russian river valley. this pinot noir vineyard was first planted in 2006 and James is the first winemaker to craft the wine and explore the promise of the vineyard. we sure like it so far, and we bet you will too.

Yoriko kishimoto and lee collins are the very hands-on owners of this beautiful and special 2-acre vineyard from the anderson valley in mendocino county the wine is made from 100% martini clone pinot noir grapes. James is the only producer.

"The flyer" was named for our "one of a kind" releases. This means we were able to make wine from a vineyard that was offered to us this one time. Each vintage of "the flyer" will be different than the previous - and at times, we won't know until the very last minute. In stock

I’ve never been‎ one to jump on a fad, but curious, open to new ideas? Yep, that’s me. So allow me to introduce you to our pure, unadorned, fruit-focused chardonnay. Naked, unwooded (save one neutral barrel) – call it what you will, but explore with me this refreshing and crisp chardonnay with a beautiful look of timothy hay left to dry in the sun

This strawberry blonde has us staring. Her color and body are just eye candy, because her aroma will make you heady. Luscious strawberries and roses on the nose give way to watermelon and honey on the palate. We make our rose from 100% pinot noir fruit – actually, the same fruit that’s from our pinots. We use the saignee method (we bleed off the color from our fermenting pinots)

It simply had to be done: the siren call of oregon pinot noir finally got me. This inaugural vintage hails from very young vines in the roserock vineyard, set about 500-700 feet above sea level on a ridge-top towards the southern end of the eola-amity hills ava. Primordial lava flows and ancient marine sediment mix with well drained volcanic soils and cooling ocean breezes that push through the van duzer corridor in the coastal range.

This is our‎ first vintage from an area i've been eyeballing for a long time. The opportunity presented itself and i couldn't say no! Rita's crown is located in the geographic center of the sta. Rita hills ava, on the southwest facing slopes of the santa rita hills. The vineyard resides at an elevation between 600' and 950', making it one of the highest planted vineyards in the ava. This cool–climate site, heavily influenced by the proximity of the pacific ocean, is ideally suited for producing pinot and santa rita hills is ideal for allowing cool ocean fog to flow through the santa ynez river valley.

Jim pratt has been growing grapes in sonoma county since 1980 and is one of sonoma county’s most experienced growers. In 1997 he planted his pinot noir vineyard to a mix of 6 clones on 15 acres in hilly southwestern sebastopol. Yield is low – between 2 and 3 tons an acre. The well-drained goldridge soil, cool climate and clones produce a distinctive crop. Macphail’s pratt vineyard designate captures this site and its clonal diversity.
