- Ellie PinesAugust 29, 2014The tour isn't terribly impressive, but it's still informative and the chance to wander the stunning grounds afterwards is worth it. The wedding I went to here also benefitted highly from the scenery.
- Elizabeth CalkinsApril 3, 2012Cool place. No wait time unlike Monticello. So if your stuck waiting at Jefferson's place for 3 hrs, hop over here!
- Andrew RakerAugust 13, 2014Take time to explore the grounds. It still functions as a working far, so you can get a sense of what life was like when Monroe lived here.
- Jeremy BekerMarch 29, 2019Great smaller site that stands in contrast to the craziness of Monticello.
- HISTORYAugust 9, 2010President James Monroe & wife, Elizabeth made this their home from 1799 to 1823. After the Monroes' death, the name of their farm was changed from "Highland" to "Ash Lawn". Today both names are used.
