- Avoid the tourists at Saravana, this is a solid South Indian go-to. Chefs lunch special gets you dosa, idli, and vada for $10, and the food is on point for this South Indian boyUpvoted 1 week ago
- Neelu RaviMarch 16, 2018Whenever I’m bored of my own cooking and I crave for really good dosa or great thali then I go here.. Don’t order wine from here as it is over priced. Instead get mango lassi which is delicious.Upvoted 1 week ago
- Rhea DattaJuly 28, 2013Each one of us tried their different thaaliS n all of them r AmazinG n all fresh! But I will say their staff is rude n not well trained. But I will return just coz the food is worth it.
- Kendall MeyerJuly 1, 2014It seemed like I asked my server for a free dinner when I tried to order iced tea. After his initial angry incredulity, everything went well. Great food for reasonable prices!
- Jose CastroApril 8, 2019Dosas are great. Be aware they include the tip in the final bill and also print it again in the receipt. They’re also pushy for you to pay cash.
- John P.July 14, 2017The lunch special is affordable and delicious. They can also make most of the food vegan or gluten free.
- Rumana SiddikyAugust 18, 2011Favorite dosas in town! The bhel puri and palak paneer are also great. Cap it all off with yummy gulab jamun and masala chai or Madras coffee.
- Split the Pondicherry dosai and an order of onion pakora. A delicious meal for two that is very affordable.
- EpicuriousAugust 23, 2010The dosas are crisp, idli are delicate, vadai are doughy, and the chana chaat is tangy - South Indian food at its tastiest! This cuisine is perfect for a hot summer night.
- Eric SchoefflerDecember 12, 2012Try the royal thali. Delicious! Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Recommended!
- Maulik ShahOctober 1, 2011The best south Indian food in the NYC / JC area. The pongal reminded me of my days in Vellore.. and the chakara-pongal of murugan idli of Chennai
- Srijan ChakrabortyJanuary 2, 2016Best dosas on Lexington Avenue. Nice decor. Worth your money, by Manhattan standards
- Chris HardingFebruary 11, 2012The palak paneer is some of the creamiest I've ever had, and with big chunks of spinach. The staff is really friendly, too.

- Vandana shethJune 11, 2020Lunch box to go 2 vegatable ,dal, rice and bread for 13$ between 12-3 weekdays
- NelsonJanuary 1, 2016Asked for spiciest food possible and the food had no spice in it. Even the pani poori which had a chili next to it was not spicy. When we complained they gave us hot sauce. The food was not tasty.
- ChristineSeptember 2, 2013Excellent dosas. Idli just like we remembered them from our travels. Eat lots!
- HenaliJuly 7, 2014very rude service..they literary told us "its time for you to go" after our dinner. Not polite at all. Def try something else instead around the area b/c foood was OKAY.
- Kelsey LAugust 2, 2019they claim their credit card machine is broken and request cash. seems suspect since they said the same thing more than a year ago.
- Bill MartineauOctober 31, 2011HORRIBLE SERVICE!! If you haven't ordered, get up and leave. The most rude service I have received in 1,000+ restaurant visits. Manager was condescending and dismissive.
