I had my first German food since my layover stop between Afghanistan and the US in Leipzig-Halle Airport, Germany and this place was excellent. The down side: get your German booze at the bar.
Vegans can get the potato pancakes without bacon, be sure to be clear about dairy. Potatonoodles can also be modified to be without eggs, the broth is onion based.

Whoa. Serious remodel here. I almost didn't recognize the place. Beer is good. Old fashioneds are surprisingly good. Food is somewhat authentically German.
Order the schweinshaxe. No one does it like Schroeder's. If you call ahead, you can special order pumpernickelbread, which comes directly from Germany. Read more
The schnitzel here is nothing like authentic German food, but if you take the dish on its own, it was tasty. Not worth $30, but tasty. I would go here to drink and hang out, but not eat.
The food is alright, but nothing special, especially for the exorbitant price. Don't try and fit 9 folks at a table for 8. It seems to bend the laws of physics (i.e., the staff isn't accommodating).
This used to be a funky old German restaurant with so-so food. Now it's a hipster's take on a funky German restaurant with okay food at a higher price.
