- Olly StedallMarch 31, 2018Compared to the headache that is Gatwick, Southampton airport is a breeze. It’s clean and quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Shopping is obviously limited but they cover the essentials.
- Alexandra RixJuly 7, 2014If you don't get to the currency exchange before security there is a cashpoint by the gates where you can withdraw euros or sterlingUpvoted 3 weeks ago
- Alexandra RixJuly 7, 2014Don't expect shopping past security. There is a while smiths that will sell you travel toothpaste ( tiny half length tube) for £2.50. Duty free shop and café and bar that is it though.
- One of our favourite airports. Quiet, relaxed, clean and friendly. Oddly, the only airport in the UK where they always insist rescanning our digital projector after it has been through in its bag!
- Karl LewisNovember 7, 2013Steer clear of the miserable check in clerk! (Face like a bull dog chewing a wasp) Clearly reading how to win friends and influence people! Saved by excellent service from younger employee :D
- There's a taxi rank outside the main train station entrance, just a few minutes away. These are typically cheaper than Chequers, who run a monopoly on taxis from the airport.
- DominicJuly 13, 2013If you've already checked in, go straight for the shorter bag drop queue. Sounds obvious but unclear sign posting means most people with boarding passes are mistakenly in the wrong queue.
- Olly StedallMarch 31, 2018For people travelling with the little ones, who want the experience over as soon as possible, Southampton is much faster than Gatwick or Heathrow.
- Lee BakerOctober 8, 2019Don't expect much in retail experience, but you can be airside at the gate with a beer and a burger in under 20 mins.
- The taxis from the station are cheaper than the ones from the airport - just cross the bridge & save.
- If only away for a day or two, park in the train station next door. It's much cheaper!
- They've made it hard to drop people off (you have to go in the multistorey and get a ticket now). There's much to be said for pulling into the car park at Soton Airport train station instead!
- The queue for security screening often stretches back to the arrivals bar in the morning. Allow yourself plenty of time, particularly in the summer.
- Good little airport, well laid out and proportionate for the flights it serves, not impressed by the lack of free drop off zones (you have to pay £1 to drop people off and you have to use the car park
- Ruth BanburyApril 10, 2019A tiny airport, hand baggage is strictly measured and not generous for size, but I love the speed and lack of trekking
- Ben BJune 7, 2013Most ridiculous airport security I have ever seen. Throwing away a business mans USB because it semi looked like a weapon: fair play, but I do not feel safer knowing you have my shaving cream!!
- Matthew BaileyApril 1, 2012Very relaxed airport. Flights always seem delayed but this seems to be due to the relaxed atmosphere.... I swear one plane waited while a woman finished her coffee :s
- Tiny airport which is really nice. So quick and easy to get through although others don't seem to find the same!
- Juliet FrostAugust 3, 2018If you’re going away for a weekend, the multi-storey at the station is much cheaper than airport parking
- Make sure you pay £5 priority queue, you won't always need it, but when you do you'll be pleased!
- Take your sandwiches from the Costa counter and buy at the bar where they are cheaper!
- Don't buy Quality street. Over £4 for small bag! But lovely small airport with surprising number of connections.
- Need to get to Southampton City Centre. Use Uni Link U1C. £2 single or £3 all day ticket. Takes approx 35 min
- Peter DMarch 30, 2012You can get on an aeroplane here in much the same way you can at any functioning airport.
- One of the smaller of our proud isle's airports. Relaxed and never busy...
- One of the smaller of our prod Isles airports, quality though. Relaxed, never busy.
- Disappointing duty free with small expensive selection - don't bank on buying anything. At the end of duty free is WHSmiths that sell cheaper chocolate for example.
- First thing in the morning keep an eye on the queue into security. One minute there is no one, the next loads of people!
- Don't even bother looking for a space on the 1st floor of short stay car park. Just go to the 2nd floor.
- Abdullah JadaniJune 26, 2017Worst airport Queues over all the departure terminal. The Swiss team doing great jobb tbh <3
- Colleen UsherApril 16, 2010Do not park in the area immediately outside airport, even if it's completely empty, even if it's the very last flight, cos the man there gets very cross :S
- Antoine L.August 12, 2019Avoid Flybe. They are robbers. They will steal your money by forcing you to check in your luggages. 35£ a piece. Shame on them!
- Alexandra RixJuly 10, 2014Do not use cashpoint in departures to buy euros. Exchange rate is awful! Ignore my previous tip!
- Little or nothing to do when your Fly(may)be flight is inevitably cancelled or delayed.
