Wine Pairings
When dining in a fine restaurant, particularly in Washington, DC, it's good to have some idea of what wines pair well w/ dishes on the menu. We've put together some of our favorite pairings for you to try. 2100 Prime was just voted as one of the most romantic restaurants in Washington, DC
Organic, free-range chicken from Eberly Farms, Stevens, Pennsylvania is brined & baked until crispy, sliced, & then wrapped in a savory crepe w/ goat cheese & Vermont cheddar from Crafton farms. The dish is finished w/ garlic, rosemary broth, & homemade maple butter & a side of fresh fried kale from the organic section of Kenney Produce. Pair this sweet, herb-flavored dish w/ a fruity chardonnay, such as Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch (#137) .
Heirloom Tomato Soup & Brioche Grilled Cheese
Grilled cheese grows up, but its comfortable flavor & texture takes you back to a time in your childhood. Homemade brioche is buttered & toasted to perfection & held together w/ Vermont cheddar cheese from Vermont cheddar. Heirloom tomatoes from Chef’s garden (OH) are roasted w/ rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper, & olive oil & then added to a homemade vegetable stock w/ a mix of carrots, onions & fennel. The soup is simmered & then blended, & finished w/ a dash of brown sugar. On a cold winter’s day, this meal is delightful w/ a light chardonnay. We like Four Hearts (#142)
Fried Egg Beef Tenderloin
A gorgeous piece of choice prime, grass-fed, all-natural tenderloin from prime land Farms (VA) is seared in a combination of shallots, garlic, lemon, parsley, & placed atop a buttered toasted brioche w/ lightly fried hand-picked cremini mushrooms from Irvin mushroom farm (PA) . A fried egg rests on top, finishing the dish & adding another layer of texture & warmth. Pair this dish w/ an earthy cabernet, malbec, or zinfandel. We like Chateau Montelena (#317) or Rosenblum Sauret (#648
Fish & Chips
A lounge favorite, our fish & chips features a Hake filet from Samuel & Son, Philadelphia, which is dredged in flour, lightly fried, & served atop a simple silk pea puree w/ a side parmesan & malt vinegar, hand-cut waffle fries. Pair w/ an ice-cold Old Dominion I.P.A. or Dogfish Head Namaste.
