There are about 10k cherry trees and 100k azaleas. At the Sangobashi Bridge, there is a promenade along the river of Somei Yoshino. Best seen mid to late April. Other types of cherry bloom a bit later
Vivid carp-shaped streamers above the Kitakami River together with pleasure boatcruising, a horse-driven carriage also rolls through the avenue of cherry trees creating a nostalgic atmosphere.
The "Kitakami Tenshochi SakuraFestival" take place from mid-April to early May. Kitakami’s Tenshochi Park has been selected as one of Japan’s top 100 sites for viewing "sakura".
