    悪王子社は，素戔嗚尊を祀る神社と伝え，もともとは当地に祀られていた。しかし慶長元(1596)年に豊臣秀吉の命により四条通寺町の祇園御旅所に移され，さらに四条通大和大路角に移った後，明治10(1877)年に八坂神社境内の本殿東側に移転した。この石標は，悪王子社の跡を示すものである。 なお現在，当地周辺を元悪王子町というのはこれに由来している。 Read more

    悪王子社分霊（祠）はこの石碑とは別のベニューです。祠や駒札はここから南に下った西側にあります。
