    明治・大正の頃まで、大阪・北新地には曽根崎川と呼ばれる川があった。明治後期に上州部が埋め立てられ、大正13年には全て埋め立てられ姿を消した。現在は北新地の片隅にかつて川があった事を示す石碑が建っています。すぐ北側の国道脇の歩道沿いにも石碑が建っていることを示す案内表示が立っています。
