Popiah. Clean-tasting popiahs from ABC Popiah #01-34. Without lard cooked into their turnip stuffing, there's a missing aroma compared to Ping Ji at Berseh FC (Jln Besar)
Hainanese chicken rice. Honest meal from Ding Feng Hainanese Chicken Rice & Noodles 顶峰海南鸡饭•面 #01-53. While not a juicy as Tian Tian at Maxwell FC, meat was plump. Chilli sauce was punchy
Vegetarian options limited due to small size: gado-gado, fried carrot cake, local desserts, popiah (fresh spring roll), mi chiam kueh (local pancake). U can find Indian prata & dosai @ nearby kopitiam
Peanutpancake (min jiang kueh). Yi Kou Fu #01-58 makes them the traditional small size. However, her batter tends to be dry. So better to pair with some beverage
Lor Mee. Ate, went home & still remembered what’s special from Zhi Xiang Special Lor Mee #01-49: the crispy rice noodle bits. Otherwise ingredients are very basic
A sad state of our local food scene. Famous 93 Wu Xiang Xia Bing #01-33 serves sub-par Chinese sausages. It's purely a roll of starch w something in middle dat doesn't even taste of pork @ all!
Kaya butter toast ($3.60). Set 1 from 99 Kopi Roti #1-41 is served with only 1 piece of toast. Stingy with kaya. Kopi was diluted despite ordering “di lok” (undiluted)
Epok epok. Ramlah Kitchen #01-48 sells these in d morning. Curry puffs were tasty, but sardines puff filling was more onions than sardines. 60-cents each
Wantan mee: Ping Xiang #01-46 sees long queues daily, so come early. Residents seem 2 like their ver which is served w black soy sauce fr their chicken feetstew. Nothing else was worth writing abt
Wanton noodles here is good, and the carrot cake be it black or white, with over 20 yrs of experience is still the best ard the area, the auntie gives a very generous amt of egg and kweh
Kueh Chap bloody cheap and good especially the pigtongue...however slow moving queue.Try the Wu Xiang too,very cheap also...The malay store opposite the kueh chap not bad..got gado gado,but sauce too
