The first military mile-high flight by a powered aircraft occurred here as well as the origination of the first all "blind" (what we now know as IFR) cross-country flight.
College Park is the world's oldest continuously operated airport. Wright brother Wilbur Wright used this airport as a training location when it first opened in 1909.
