We got a recommendation to go here by some locals and I'm so glad we listened! The atmosphere takes you back to the 1800s and the food was absolutely delicious. Our server was incredible too!
Baked kings onionsoup the only soup my picky wife and niece will eat. (Was given permission to say this) The half a chicken special is excellent get it fast before the run out, everything is great.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Very impressed with the history and the bio on-line. Everyone in our party was very impressed with each dish we ordered and the service:
Great little place to eat but a little confusing to get into lots of rooms and doors connected. Be sure to go downstairs and see the tavern. Handicap accessible seating is on the first floor.
It was a fantastic dinner. The onionsoup was outstanding. Great local wines. Rebel Red was a great treat. The food was all great and the service was outstanding. Great treat.
Food was fresh, well seasoned & cooked. Great service. Ribs, crab cakes, filet, chickenblue cheese dip, warm apple pie all had by our party. Nice gift shop & free Underground Railroad museum.
Do not miss out on this place while visiting Gettysburg! Old 1800s tavern. Sooooo charming. Stone walls, fireplace, natural spring! The baked onionsoup was second to none. A must visit!
Went to a restaurant around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday and the first available slot was at 9:45. So I recommend to make a reservation beforehand. We ended up going to a tavern downstairs, which was nice.
A great place to have lunch at! However, it's a tourist trap for the prices they have. I had a burger but there were more toppings than the actual beef. Great servers!
Opt to dine in the main restaurant for the wonderful colonial menu. We were able to get seated in 10 minutes with no reservation, during the 150th anniversary weekend!
I agree with the others who loved their french onion soupl The sandwich I had on white bread was pretty ordinary for lunch but with the ambience and good company, it was still special.
Wow the crab cakes were the best, as Long Islanders who have been up and down the east coast that is saying something. The pecan and Apple pie were delicious. I highly recommend this place.
Dress nice. There are a couple of different restaurants. We love the feel of the 18th century Tavern, but have not had the pleasure of eating at the house. The food is great
Unique atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing pecan pie. Even if you don't eat here, take a tour of the house and see what was part of the underground railroad.
had my wedding reception in the Abigail Adams Ballroom and the staff was absolutely wonderful...it was a very classy reception for a very reasonable fee!! highly recommend any group gathering of 30 o
Nice atmosphere. Pretty crowded when we were there but the wait was not long. I didn't like the burger. I recommend Rum Bellies Vengeance. It limits 2 per person. I had only one and I was good :)
The onionsoup is fine, however, everything else was not. We were at the tavern downstairs. Service was also underwhelming. Skip the punch, order a standard beer/cocktail and the bowl of onionsoup.
Lots of character in this circa 1818 tavern. Good sandwiches and the Philadelphia Fish House Punch for some alcoholic fun. There's a real spring in the corner too. Cool!
