    仙台市の玄関口。東北新幹線、東北本線、常磐線、仙山線、仙石線が乗り入れ。土産物店や飲食店が充実。Gateway Station of Sendai. Junction of Tohoku Shinkansen, Tohoku, Joban, Senzan and Senseki Line. There are various souvenir shops and restaurants.

    JR仙台駅には 東北新幹線(北海道新幹線直通含む)秋田新幹線 仙石線 仙山線 東北本線 常磐線 仙台空港アクセス線が乗り入れる。それぞれの主要駅まではICカードが利用可能だが、一部の駅のみ対応の区間もあるため、事前に確認するか 紙の切符を購入するのが吉。

    地下鉄を利用する際は、地下改札を出てデパ地下を突っ切っていくと自由通路に出る。
