established in 2005, wine² is a unique wine bar located in a 19th century building on denton's historic downtown square. The bar has been written up in tasting panel magazine, pegasus news, d magazine and we were a finalist in d magazine's 2010 reader's poll due to our devotion to excellent customer service, expert wine and beer knowledge, and unpretentious approach. We offer wine by the taste, the glass, or the bottle, microbrew and import beers, and tasty snacks to pair with your beverage. Wine² has a fun, laid back atmosphere, with a knowledgeable, helpful staff. Whether you are new to wine or a full on aficionado we can guide you to something you will enjoy. We always have special features in addition to our regular wine lists. Please check the chalk board each visit for exciting new tastes

Our wine list

the list is 80 bottles strong with 36 or more wines by the glass or taste at any given time. We chose hand crafted wines from all over the world based on the strength of their value.

All of our snacks are organic and local or from their native country when possible

About the staff

Doug

He has been around denton's hospitality industry for years and wine² has had the honor of his presence for 3 years. A master at customer service and the witty pun, doug will delight you with his easy manner and attention to detail. Ask for the penny tour, it's always fun!

Jonathan

He and his wife were already great regulars when jonathan decided he wanted to learn even more about wine. So now this realtor by day has turned wine bar geek by night. Easy to laugh and excited about wine we are honored to have him on board.

Tiffany

She has been customer of the year before and is now officially part of the team. A graduate from the wine squared academy classes with a near perfect score, tiffany has a great understanding of wine and an easy manner that makes everyone feel at home.

Cris

Cris has been a bartender on the regular bar scene in denton for years. He felt like a change to something a bit more "grown up," so he joined us very recently to learn all he can about wine. Plenty of punk cred and the sweetest demeanor ever, cris is ecstatic to start his wine journey. He's here to learn as he serves so please be free with your helpful pointers and tell him about your favorite wine!

Brook e.

Ray began wine² with a simple idea: make a place that's comfortable and fun to learn about wine, a place where friends can talk, you can meet new people and explore the world of wine without uppity attitudes or pretense. She wanted an atmosphere similar to places she visits in europe, one that seems to make time slip away. The wine program at wine² was developed with a focus on education and exploration. Brook chooses interesting varieties, sometimes from regions rarely mentioned in the main stream, based on their value. Every wine and beer offered has been personally tasted with this question in mind, "is this a good value for the money?" she believes wine should never be about hype, it should be about enjoyment, a journey, a moment

The first thing to remember about wine is

No one can know it all. It's a never ending exploration, each wine having a life of its own, expressing the memories of the grape, so to speak. The second thing to remember is: this is just rotten grape juice; it should be fun and is hardly cause for snottiness! Drink what you like and like what you drink. Brook is a sommelier

With certification through the court of master sommeliers. She is also an international bordeaux tutor and has been certified by the wine academy of spain. Currently she is working in the wset program with the ultimate goal of becoming a master of wine. She teachers at collin county's culinary institute, designed and often teaches our wine classes at the bar, and is available for private tastings and instruction.
