Our Wine
Bridge Lane Wines
Our Merlot Blanc is created using a particular process similar to that which is used to produce fine Champagne. Made from the red Merlot grape, the fruit is harvested early in the season and delicately crushed to extract the most concentrated juice. The juice has no contact with the red skins of the grape, resulting in the wine’s light color. The 2011 Merlot Blanc shows bright grapefruit and lemon-grass aromas accented by flavors of citrus and Fiji apple with a crisp finish and racy acidity.

2010 Reserve Pinot Blanc 10 Year Anniversary
Big, bold white wines of France’s Alsace region are world-renowned for complexity, richness, and sophistication. The 2010 vintage marked the 10-year anniversary of the introduction of Lieb estate wines. To mark the occasion, we created an “Alsatian-style” Pinot Blanc, which has a richer, rounder style. With 0.86% residual sugar, the wine opens with aromas of lychee and boysenberry, which are followed by flavors of pear and apple with a touch of honey on the finish.
2010 Right Coast Red
This Bordeaux-style blend presents a complex expression of our vineyard terroir. Produced entirely from estate-grown grapes, each varietal was vinified separately, and an assemblage was created to showcase maximum balance and complexity. Aromas of black cherry, tea leaves, and cedar come through on the nose. The palate offers dark cherry and plum with hints of coffee. Smooth, soft tannins follow with a touch of spice on the finish. Assemblage of 58% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec.
2009 Blanc de Blancs
Our Methode Champenoise sparkling wine is made from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes and, on average, ages three years before being disgorged in small lots to guarantee a crisp, fresh wine. A repeat winner at the prestigious Los Angeles International Wine Competition and named as a top American Sparkling Wine by Wine Spectator, our Blanc de Blancs is perhaps one of our greatest achievements. This brut sparkler boasts a nose redolent of green apple and pear, accented by hints of citrus, honey, and yeast. The palate comes alive with delicate, refreshing, tiny bubbles, which creates opportunity for classic pairings with caviar, oysters, and smoked fish, or with rich desserts like chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and Baked Alaska.
2008 Reserve Petit Verdot
Distinct crimson color with purple edges. The nose is reminiscent of cassis and dark berries with a hint of sweet tobacco. This is a round wine with flavors of blackberry and spice
Red Wines
2011 Bridge Lane Merlot
A blend of 93% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, our Bridge Lane Merlot spends 10 months in 15% new French oak barrels, creating medium-bodied wine. The wine opens with aromas of rhubarb and jam, followed by pepper on the palate. Finishing with oak char and spice, our Bridge Lane Merlot would beautifully compliment tomato-based sauces, Italian cured meats, and Spanish Chorizo.
2006 Reserve Merlot
Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, our 2006 Merlot shows a deep garnet color with hints of purple. An enticing nose of mulberry, pine, and cocoa powder is followed by refined notes of sweet fruits. The palate is rich with plum, black cherry and cedar that comes through a smooth, supple mouth-feel, finished with soft, round tannins. While delicious to drink now, it should age well for many years.

Floral notes of lavender and violet permeate the nose, leading to a deeper bouquet of raspberry, plum, and subtle hints of mocha. The palate is layered with undertones of white pepper and eucalyptus. This is a big wine, displaying a concentration of lush fruit, hints of earth, and a smooth, complex finish.

Cheese Pairings
Any wine connoisseur knows that cheese and wine go hand in hand. With all of the different cheeses available, sometimes finding the right one to pair with your wine can be difficult.
Below are a few suggestions for cheese pairings with some of our Lieb Cellars wines.
2008 Blanc de Blancs
Using the French Methode Champenoise, our sparkling wine is made from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes and ages 3 years before being disgorged in small lots to guarantee a crisp, fresh wine. This sparkling wine goes well with a Brillat-Savarin, a soft, white-crusted cow’s milk cheese in a triple-crème brie-style from France. It is buttery, rich, creamy, and decadent with a rare "natural rind" – almost a thin skin. This cheese is named after the 18th century gourmet and political figure Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin. An avid cheese lover, Brillat-Savarin once remarked, “A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. ‘Much obliged,’ said he, pushing the plate aside, ‘I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills.
2010 Reserve Pinot Blanc
Fermented in stainless steel tanks to display true varietal character, this pure Pinot Blanc features flavors of white peach buttressed by tangerine-lemon citrus, and hints of honey on the finish. A pure, unpasteurized sheep’s milk cheese such as Pecorino di-Fossa will go well with this white wine. Hard and crumbly, this Italian cheese has a sweet start with a vibrant peppery finish. Pecorino di-Fossa, one of the most precious cheeses in Italy, is made using the ancient process of maturing the cheese in sealed caves lined with hay so that the cheese matures in an oxygen-deprived environment. By using this process, the taste and structure of the cheese are modified by the good bacteria present in the cave and the hay surrounding the cheese.
2008 Bridge Lane Cabernet Franc
This light, quaffable Cabernet Franc goes well with a tangy, yet subtle cheese such as Arina Goat Gouda. The mild flavor of the cheese will balance well with the smooth finish of the wine and the subtle notes of soft vanilla. Moderately priced and likely to appeal to children, goat Gouda is a smart choice for picnics and a safe cheese-board selection for parties.
2008 Right Coast Red
Presenting a complex representation of our vineyard terroir, this Bordeaux-style blend offers ripe cherry and plum notes with hints of coffee and tea leaves. A bleu cheese similar to Saint Agur will pair well with this wine. With its production beginning in 1988, Saint Agur is a newcomer to the French bleu scene. In spite of its novelty, it has become quite popular, perhaps because of its rich creaminess.
2010 Bridge Lane Chardonnay
With its light body and fresh finish, our steel-fermented Chardonnay pairs well with a hard, sheep’s milk cheese such as Etorki, which has a rich texture, and a nutty finish. Etorki is made in the French Basue region of the Pyrenees from the milk of black-headed sheep. The recipe for this cheese is based on one that has been made by local shepherds for centuries.
2007 Bridge Lane Merlot
Blended with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French oak for 12 months, this light-bodied Merlot exhibits dark fruit aromas that pair well with a sheep’s milk cheese such as Pecorino di Vino. In Tuscany, a harmony is recognized between the flavor of Pecorino and the bouquet of wine. Pecorino is one of the most ancient cheeses in the world and can be traced back nearly 2,000 years. Wine’s history is even longer, so bringing these two culinary antiques together is a natural combination.
2005 Reserve Merlot
Because of its oak aging, the nose of this Merlot exhibits cedar and smoke with ripe plum and cassis. The palate is rich with plum, black cherry and pairs well with a creamy cow’s milk bleu such as Fourme d’Ambert. Although its scent is earthy, Fourme d’Ambert has a creamy flavor with a slightly nutty finish. This is one of France’s oldest cheeses and dates back to Roman times.
Seafood Pairings
Many people think that only white wine should be consumed with seafood; however, there are multiple food critics who beg to differ. While we suggest that much of the local East End seafood is best to pair with our wines, marine fish and shellfish from any location will suffice. Below are some suggestions for both white and red wines to go with a variety of sea bounty.
