- Hans HauptJune 25, 2013If you're new, ask the friendly staff for an introduction. They'll gladly help you. Then order something deliciously spicy (the Paratha Rolls are great) and enjoy the view.
- Puneet KapoorJune 28, 2012If you can handle spice, ask the staff for the "desi mirch roll." You won't find it on the menu but the combo works amazingly well. I usually get one desi mirch roll with chicken and one with lamb
- Zahid ZamanJuly 11, 2012The better younger version of Kati Roll, this place does a Western twist to the traditional paratha roll with four delicious choices of chutneys. Lamb kebab roll with coconut chutney is my favorite!
- ZenFoodsterJune 6, 2013Not bad. Think Chipotle concept w/ Indian-Pakistani fusion flavors & ingredients. My fave-the paneer rice/salad bowl w/ red hot sauce. Worth a try @ 10% off entire order thru Yelp.
- The Wall Street JournalApril 5, 2012Think Chipotle, South Asian-style. That is what Desi Shack, a fast and casual new Indian and Pakistani restaurant in Midtown East, seems to be modeled after (though the founder won't tell you that). Read more
- jasmine bJanuary 24, 2013Absolutely love the Paneer Kati Rolls. Great customer service and excellent food. I wish they opened one in SF. I go to Desi Shack every time I visit NYC
- IzaDecember 15, 2013Rice plate, sandwich or salad? You can combine all the ingredients just the way you like, including spaciness level. Loved it!
- Heather LeathersJanuary 23, 2013Best chicken paratha roll and cilantro chutney a must. The green chilies are ADDICTIVE !! oh and their mango chutney is perfection.
- Isaac VanDuynDecember 30, 2013Really good, fast Indian/Pakistani food. Staff is friendly. Nothing not to like. 2 paratha rolls if you're really hungry, otherwise 1 is fine.
- Jake BJanuary 23, 2013Always get the lamb kebab roll. I wish there were more Desi Shacks! The cilantro chutney is amazing.
- Friendly staff. Tasty food. 1/20th the wait time of Kati Roll; Desi Shack has a more efficient system.
- Paul BarandaOctober 3, 2011Get the samosas with your chicken tikka basmati plate. Sooo good. Don't forget the coconut chutney!
- Rebecca GreeneDecember 22, 2011Got the potato roll and veggie samosas. Delicious! Great place and friendly staff.
- Anish BMay 9, 2013Chipotle twist on the tired-but-true Indian snack roll. Kudos for being less greasy than most, though.
- Noah XifrSeptember 30, 2011Soft opening 4 lunch will serve dinner starting 10.3.11. Ingredients look fresh & mmmmmm smells just right!
- Caroline DruckerOctober 6, 2011Grab a mango lassi with your meal! Add a samosa to the chicken salad bowl, yum!
- Carol KuruvillaFebruary 3, 2012Meh. About as Indian as Chipotle is Mexican, but hey! That's how it is these days. Aloo rice platter is def not worth $8.98. They should add an incentive for vegetarians, (chipotle has free guac!)
- Girish LallaSeptember 12, 2012Good service but food is mediocre at best. Frozen parathas you can get at Indian grocery stores. Better less pricey options a few blocks south
- Param GDecember 15, 2011Subpar food and overpriced for what you get. Got a salad bowl w paneer and it just barely filled half the container they put it in. I won't go back. Go to kati roll instead.
