BT WiFi has been replaced by their own Starbucks WiFi. Quieter before lunchtime crowds arrive.
Nice wide and open space. Same selection as other Costa's. Wife with password (see other review below). Only got G on mobile data. Outdoor seating. Not too busy or crowded. Close to BCN main line.
Family friendly. Busy at weekends lunchtimes. First floor up the escalator. Same drinks and food as other Costa's. Window view of the car park and road.
On the first floor via via stairs from Next - Rotunda Square entrance. Bag a window table early for views of the Bullring. View is better than nearby Waterstone's Costa. Assume gets busy at midday.
The footbridge is currently closed for refurbishment. Says will take 14 weeks (started late October 2013). Expect a walking diversion around Welby Road and Stratford Road (to the car park entrance).
Change trains from the Snow Hill lines to the New Street lines trains. Quicker than changing from Birmingham Moor St to New St!
Think they have redecorated here. Or changed artwork in the last year. If they get busy they may forget to make your drink. Personally prefer the one in Five Ways now. Quiet weekday mornings.
I got three stamps on my Caffe Nero card, so that's 9 stamps. Meaning when I go to any other Nero next time should get my coffee for free (I think). Very generous of the barista that served me!
If you want to avoid the Bullring or New Street Starbucks come here! Away from the tourists and shoppers! This time added Guatemala Antigua to my drink! Still quiet even on weekend lunchtimes!
A nice environment. Didn't take long to get my toastie! My caramelatte tasted ok! Free Cloud wifi worked nice and fast! Calm and relaxing. Friendly staff!
Had a complete refurbishment in Autumn 2016. New furniture and fittings. Bookshelves also for some reason. Maybe as Bullring Link Street was done recently.
There is no photography signs inside. So use your phone camera inside. A useful shortcut from the Canalside to Centenary Square. Best to go through when a conference is not on. Starbucks inside.
Take the stairs and burn calories! There are side lifts but take ages to come. But escalators and travelator in use all the time (when open).
Nice and spacey. Quiet. They have free The Cloud wifi. Seemed fast enough (connected without a problem). My caffe mocha tasted ok!
They now have free Odeon wifi here (also Broadway Plaza wifi). Used to have The Cloud. Odeon wifi now up and running and works! Pop in before or after a film! Usually quiet weekend lunchtimes!
New Staffordshire Hoard gallery opened 17th October 2014. Greek and Roman artifacts moved to floor above (Egyptian artifacts still above where the hoard is now). Birmingham History Galleries also here
They have WiFi now. Nice food. Close to the canal for a quick walk. Can't edit my old tip otherwise would add this to the old one.
Basement: O2 WiFi now works as does 4G. Quieter at weekends I think. Go downstairs if ground floor is full.
Order your ticket on the Odeon website! Some films have Early Bird tickets (before 12pm). But if you book online they charge 50p for online booking fee. And now 21p for card handling.
Use the Cineworld website to get 10% off your ticket. Collect at ATM (using your card). Or get the QR code scanned at the cinema! They now charge 50p for remote booking online! And have to pick a seat
The other main (and obvious) exit is the ramps near the Worcester & Birmingham Canal up to Mary Vale Road. You can still head to Cadbury World, but by heading down Franklin Way and following the signs
