- Elizabeth BursteinNovember 18, 2019Pricy but delicious food: loved asparagus w mayo, veggie gyoza, chicken skewers, toro special, spicy tuna roll, tuna avo handroll, cucumber martini. Didnt love: matcha cake, hibiki w cherry n vermouth
- emily chenMarch 1, 2016The sushi is okay here but they have an amazing sesame agadashi tofu, hibiki whiskey, kirin on tap & an amazing lychee cocktail. it's farm to tableesque japanese, making their own tofu/sauces in house
- I like the warm sautéed spinach and garlic; the pork Gyoza; and fried rice with pork. Sit at the bar and wash it down with a cold draft beer from Japan
- Dave FarberJune 25, 2017I just had brunch there. The food was excellent. The thing I liked was a knowledgeable staff affordable pricing an excellent sake's
- A little slice of heaven on earth. One of the most incredibly well curated sake and shochu menus - try Summer Snow. Their tofu is homemade try the agedashi tofu. Loved the seaweed salad and Momo!
- Very quiet and intimate shochu & saké bar near London Terrace Gardens. Mini Uni Ikura Don & Aji cucumber sashimi salad r my best 🍣🍶.

- Elizabeth BursteinFebruary 28, 2021Absolutely great: snow crab spring rolls, toro handroll, crispy tuna toll, garlic rice w beef, yuzu bubbles cocktail, meh on fried chicken.
- Paisley GilmourJanuary 17, 2018Veggie sushi (I had avocado rolls) is simple but tasty. But the vegetarian starters/sides are incredible - tofu agedashi and bok choi are awesome.
- Zach HarrisAugust 11, 2014Try the yellowtail collar and the black cod they're both unbelievable. And make sure to ask to sit in the back room!!
- J.R. ReedApril 21, 2018Pork belly, fried chicken, pork fried rice, sushi, and spicy cucumber are must-orders -> small plates but cool vibe and great date spot
- Rach .BApril 25, 2013A small and Intimate sake house. Must order the eel dynamite and black cod. if you eat Uni get it in sushi, top it off with a quail egg it makes all the difference!!
- Marc BuonAugust 28, 2012Good solid list of sake, Sapporo on tap cheap, hamachi Kama, sushi ten (slightly on small side), fried octopus dusted with green tea powder and scallop maki! Good stuff!
- Elizabeth BursteinJanuary 10, 2021Delight: salmon avo handroll, fried rice w steak, good aoili sauce on chicken karage. OK: sushi assortment + uni
- Dave SilverstoneJanuary 8, 2012A stellar newcomer with a stylish design, wonderful staff, an authentic, inventive Japanese pub menu, and WOW what a sake collection! The sushi is serviceable, but it's not the main attraction.
- Go with your special person and sit at the bar. Leave the rest to the bartender and their awesome food.
- John David BaezSeptember 7, 2013Pork kimchi is where it's at! Spicy and flavorful. Very friendly crew. Busy place, but pretty accommodating in trying to get you a seat. Obvi a great sake menu.
- Katy AoyagiSeptember 21, 2013Big fan of the hamachi kama grilled yellowtail collar and the tako wasa (raw octopus marinated with wasabi). Impressive sake and sochu menu too!
- Serious EatsMarch 25, 2013An excellent Chelsea izakaya; grab beers before you dive into the menu's cooked dishes, like takoyaki or monkfish liver.
- naveenJuly 25, 2011put your name on a bottle of kappa no (a sweet potato shochu) and have them keep it behind the bar for future visits. drink on the rocks when you're in the 'hood with a friend (good for three months;
- Eric VAugust 18, 2014Great Sochu & sake selection, and knowledgable wait staff. The Tako Wasa is delicious!
- Nima GardidehMay 22, 2016Buta kimchi is very well done. Recommend getting rice or noodles (or some rolls) if you want to fill up a bit :)
- Kelly MangoldJuly 14, 2011Shared the buta kimchi with a side of rice to soak up the sauce based on past tips and it was the best thing we had all.night. Sushi is middle of the road, best roll we tried was spicy crunchy scallop
- JebDecember 12, 2019Buta Kimchi and the off-menu pork fried rice are the best. Stuff from the Izakaya Ten menu.
- Chrissy KDecember 31, 2015Everything here is pretty good. Had almost everything on the menu in one visit and loved every single dish
- Leandro LageraMay 30, 2016Great little izakaya. Get the cod in banana leaf. Can't go wrong with the nigiri also.
- Alexander LobovMay 12, 2018I’m not big on the sushi here but the karaage, spinach and tsukune are all excellent.
- Bryan WilloughbyJanuary 22, 2013The octopus is a great appetizer if you are a little adventurous. Wasabi is mild and tastes great. Ordered it the last 3 times here!
- One of the best shochu bars in NYC. Just started carrying Satoh & Tenshi No Yuwaku genshu. Bottle keep means you don't have to go by the glass.
- Used to love this place but disappointed this time. Portions felt smaller and ingredients didn't seem as fresh. Still terrific sake selection and the buta kimchi (though smaller) was great as usual.
- BLOUIN ARTINFOOctober 2, 2012One of the few japanese options in the neighborhood, the restaurant’s close proximity to Chelsea galleries makes it a popular stop. Read more
- Clara BayarriSeptember 16, 2014Great Japanese place, the takoyaki was very good, as well as the buta kimchi 😊
- @JaumePrimeroJuly 21, 2011The food here is surprisingly good. Order the Korean style pork, the eel sushi and the tuna sashimi. I miss my old hang out in the hood!!
- Persis ElaviaFebruary 24, 2013Spicy shrimp with cod roe and spicy cucumber are awesome. They don't accept Amex which is a drawback.
- Small portions, but delicious. Beef kimchi and pork yakisoba. Cozy ambience.
- Sit at the bar, buy a bottle of sake or shochu, if you can't finish it write your name on a label and come back late (within 3 months of course).
- David HoltzDecember 1, 2017Tasty but pricey! Order 1-2 more dishes than you think you need (if your wallet can take the hit).
- Jason WFebruary 9, 2010Get a bottle of shozu late at night or on Tues. at half price. If you don't finish they will put your name on it and keep it behind the bar for next time. Try some fresh fruit mixers with it.
- Lindon ChenSeptember 29, 2015cute but expensive sake restaurant with cute bar food. the sake list is comprehensive and informative.
- KrystinaFebruary 22, 2012It's all about the crunchy spicy scallop roll. Also, happy hour is until 7 and $2 off drafts, aka $3 Kirin Ichiban and $5 Sapporo
- Try the Funaguchi -- premium sake in a can. Each $12 can pours two full glasses -- perfect to share, the best deal in the house besides Shochu Tuesday ($20 off all bottles).
