Yo Quiero Taco Bell? Then this is na-cho list... These are my top picks for "authentic" Mexican restaurants that try to stay away from the same old tired tex-mex cuisine found everywhere else.
2901 Eastern Ave (at S Linwood Ave), Baltimore, MD
Mexican Restaurant · Canton · 12 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: For "authentic" Mexican tacos, this is the place with a huge selection of interesting offal meats to explore ("offal" not awful). Don't forget to wash it all down with house made Horchata!
Naptown 💪 Larry: With everything from goat stew meat tacos to pasole, menudo, a number of beef tongue dishes, and house made horchata, this little hole in the wall is the real deal for "authentic" Mexican food
Naptown 💪 Larry: Affectionately known as "The Taco Truck", it's got no tables, but it does have Superb Mexican Tacos - juicy grilled beef strips, two corn tortillas, cilantro & onions, radish slices and a lime wedge..
Naptown 💪 Larry: A hole in the wall in the best way! With a heavily pacific coast mexico inspired menu, Mi Pueblo's "authentic" offerings don't disappoint. Don't miss the El Molcajete !
Mexican Restaurant · Owen Brown · 35 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: Very creative menu. Don't miss the table-side made fresh guacamole and the huge list of premium tequila margarita's. - If you want to feel the burn, go for my fav, the La Raspa !
1032 Light St (btw E Hamburg St & Cross St), Baltimore, MD
Mexican Restaurant · Federal Hill - Montgomery · 78 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: With 5 different house made Mole's, amazingly eclectic interpretations of authentic mexican dishes, and a huge premium margarita list, it's a little pricey but well worth it!
1225 Cathedral St (btwn Biddle & Preston), Baltimore, MD
Mexican Restaurant · Mid-Town Belvedere · 17 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: Their eclectic interpretations of Mexican and Latin American dishes include a huge selection of house made guacamoles, and everything from ceviche to paella. Don't miss the Cordero Jalisco
Latin American Restaurant · Southeastern Baltimore · 53 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: Although more Latin American than strictly Mexican, if you like Ceviche, there's no better place in Baltimore to experience such an amazing selection. The Fire & Ice Ceviche shouldn't be missed !
129 S Broadway (Btw E Pratt & E Lombard), Baltimore, MD
Mexican Restaurant · Upper Fells Point · 22 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: Arcos is another of Baltimore's "high end" Mexican inspired offerings. The prices aren't cheap but the food is excellent and the open air courtyard is great for a romantic summer night out.
1200 Steuart St (entrance is on Beason St side), Baltimore, MD
Mexican Restaurant · Locust Point · 22 tips and reviews
Naptown 💪 Larry: Think chef inspired interpretations of Mexican food in a trendy almost fine dining, corporate chain atmosphere and you'll have Miguel's figured out. But the food "is" excellent, so they made my list.
Naptown 💪 Larry: Another more Tex than Mex place, but the Baja Fish Taco's, the Camarones Brochette, and the Margarita's are definitely something you gotta try!
Naptown 💪 Larry: The Ultimate Burrita Prenada, a 2-foot, 8-pound monstrosity is the challenge you won't win. But don't miss the Latin American part of their menu or the house made Veracruz Mole over chicken!
Naptown 💪 Larry: More "Tex" than "Mex", but don't miss Gilberto's Specialties, which are all Baja inspired fresh seafood dishes and they do a great house margarita !
Naptown 💪 Larry: Like the original La Palapa, Tex-Mex overcrowds La Palapa Too's menu. But they also have a Baja Specialty section and their signature house Ceviche is definitely something you shouldn't miss !
Naptown 💪 Larry: It's only got a couple "authentic" mexican dishes, but sometimes you have to give into your greasy cheesy Tex-Mex cravings. Try the deep fried avocado with chicken n cheese. You won't be disappointed.
Naptown 💪 Larry: With an identical menu to Los Portales and Mi Hacienda, Plaza Garibaldi is the best of the three. AZ & NM transplants swear by it's evenly split and well executed Tex-Mex / Cali-Mex menu.
