The Produce Station Features Miller Amish Country Poultry
Miller amish poultry chicks are hatched at their own hatchery and placed primarily on amish family farms. The birds are raised inside naturally ventilated, curtain sided, houses and are free to roam on open floors. They are fed an all-vegetable diet and are hormone and antibiotic free. Antibiotic free -miller chickens are raised on all vegetable feed that is ground at their feed mill from corn and soybeans. No antibiotics are added. Labels can be confusing - with terms like "free-range" on the label it does not mean that it is antibiotic free. There is no requirement that free-range chickens be antibiotic free.
La Quercia Prosciutto Americano
Named by bon appetit magazine as "food artisans of the year", herb and kathy eckhouse in many senses define contemporary culinary pioneering. Using the finest domestic pigs and a well developed recipe, herb, kathy, and the staff at iowa's la quercia produce this domestic prosciutto that holds it own next to the greats from parma. Hailed by famed food critic jeffrey steingarten as "the best american or imported prosciutto [he's] ever tasted," this nitrate-free product is cured using only sun dried sea salt. Its flavors are subtle, nuanced, and impressive--sweet, salty, slightly nutty, and deliciously meaty. Use it as you would the finest from parma: on your antipasto plates, in your favorite sandwich, or by itself with some crusty bread.
Hard Cider
Lately we have noticed a huge increase in the number of sales for our hard ciders. I don't know whether that is because we have one of the largest hard cider selections in the state and people are finally finding this out, or just because cider in the U.S. of A. is making an epic comeback. Whichever way it is, we are quite happy about this evolution, take a minute and checkout our selection from around the world!
Michigan
J.K.'s Scrumpy Hard Cider Farmhouse Organic
Orchard Gate Gold as a unique Artisan Michigan Farmhouse Cider, somewhere between English Scrumpy and a Normandy Cidre. After the harvest, we press our organic apples and allow them to slowly ferment for up to six months. We then carefully hand-fill and label each bottle and let it age for several weeks to properly condition. There are only two ingredients in our Orchard Gate Gold: Apple Juice and Yeast. No artificial flavors or colors and - of course - no sulfite nor preservatives of any kind. Available in 22 oz./bottles.

Virtue Cider Sidra de Nava
Virtue’s Sidra de Nava is more tart than the dry ciders of England or funky cidre from France. It’s lemony nose and bracingly tart dry finish are a happy intersection of cider, dry white wine and fresh squeezed lemonade. It’s the most refreshing of drinks, pure sunshine in a glass. Available in 750 ml/bottles.
Virtue Cider The Mitten
When the leaves fall, there’s a chill in the air and the evening greedily takes hours from daylight, we stand strong and embrace the wintertime. It’s a time of rich foods, roaring fires and our favorite sweaters. Drinks change from refreshing to intense and satisfying. The Mitten is a Winter cider, a blend of last seasons best, aged in bourbon barrels, with the new season’s fresh pressed apple juice. Straight cider, aged for 3 seasons, finds notes of vanilla, caramel and charred American oak, balanced with the best of the orchard, over-ripe apples and their sweet, tart, earthy juice. Many barrels are filled, but only a small portion, the very smoothest, will find their way into The Mitten. We love wintertime, especially when we have The Mitten to keep us warm and happy through the long, cold night. Available in 750 ml/Bottles

Virtue Cider Nichols Farm and Orchard
Long ago, it was easy to keep track of where our food and drink came from. If we didn't raise it or harvest it ourselves, another local farmer did. Virtue Cider preserves this local connection with every cider they make, partnering with area farmers in their second, third and fourth generations. Virtue’s Estate Series ciders are a salute to these farmers. Each one represents a true expression of a single grower’s finest fresh apples, with little impact from yeast, and fermentation without barrel aging.
Virtue Cider Sidra de Nava
Sidra de Nava is a tart, lemony summer Spanish-style sidra. The Asturias region produces 80% of the Sidra in Spain, and the Asturian summer is something to behold. The skies are clear and blue, the cafés full, and Sidra reigns supreme. Every café and Sidrería pours it – either ’thrown’ from a bottle or pipa (pitcher) held high overhead or straight from the kupela (barrel) . Afternoon drinking under those blue skies leads to long nights of music, dancing and of course, more Sidra. The climax of the summer is the Festival de la Sidra in the village of Nava, held each July.
Virtue Cider Percheron
In Normandy, France, cider has been made on the farm for over a thousand years. Apples were carried from orchard to barn by cart, drawn by a big, grey horse--a percheron. The apples were milled and pressed into juice through straw--driven by that same horse--then fermented with wild yeast in used wine barrels. The resulting farm cider, or cidre fermier, was rustic and complex, with notes of both the farm and barrel. Percheron Cidre Fermier is dedicated to the big, beautiful horse of Normandy. Like its French cousin, it bares the unmistakable scent of the farm, a strong body, and a gentle finish. Available in 750ml/bottles.
Virtue Cider Cider Nouveau 2013
On an autumn afternoon along Le Route de Cidre in Northern France, a crisp, misty air rolls in from off the shores of Normandy. A brisk ride along this path unfolds a landscape of rustic family farms, rolling pastures, and orchard beds lined with freshly fallen apples. Along Michigan’s Cider Coast, fall is ushered in by chilled lake air and bursts of color from falling leaves and ripe apples. As in Normandy, these sensations evoke the promise of an autumn harvest ready to be fulfilled. Cidre Nouveau celebrates the fall bounty of the world’s great cider regions, from Michigan to Normandy. Released each November, this young, vibrant cider is a worthy addition to the harvest treasures that will line your holiday table. Available in 750 ml/bottles.

2010 Poma Aurea, Sidra de Asturias (Spain)
Poma Aurea is a hard apple cider from Sidra Trabanco located in the Asturias region town of Gijon. This Sidra is made with a selection of indigenous apple varieties from the best local orchards. These apples were meticulously hand sorted and pressed using traditional old wooden presses. The must was then transferred to select old barrels where it underwent fermentation using indigenous yeast. Once fermentation was complete the sidra was put into bottle with apple must to initiate secondary fermentation. It fermented for six months before being disgorged. This product is named Poma Áurea for the special golden color of this unique cider. Available in 750ml/bottles.

A delicate marriage between crisp acidity and discreet sweetness. Its typical lightness and elegance make Poire a traditional drink in Normandy. Its fine bubbles are naturally produced in the bottle. Poire is both refreshing and festive. You will enjoy Poire served chilled in a champagne flute, as an aperitif. It also goes beautifully with shellfish, salads, steamed fish, goat cheese or fruits sorbet. Available in 750ml/bottles.
2012 Isastegi Sagardo Naturala (Spain)
Sagardo naturala, or natural cider, has been produced in the Basque Country for over 2,000 years. According to Spanish law natural cider is produced using traditional methods without the addition of sugars or carbonic gas. The resulting cider is something unique to the Basque Country: it is still (with only mild residual carbonic gas) , more bitter than most ciders and has an alcohol content that is typically between five and six percent by volume. This traditional method starts with the apple harvest in the fall when apples of various native varieties are sorted, ground and pressed. The resulting juice is transferred into kupelas (large, oak barrels) and allowed to ferment until the spring when it is bottled unfiltered. Available in 750ml/bottles.
2012 Etienne Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut de Normandie (France)
