- Jill B.March 7, 2015Consistent favorite for modern Japanese. Don't miss the bento boxes during lunch!
- Matt AndradeFebruary 15, 2015Second time around and was a better experience. Just wish the spicy ramen was actually spicy. Other than that it was an enjoyable time.
- Michelle Hardy SchenkOctober 31, 2013Tan Tan Men is great if you like spicy! Lunch ends at 3, if you come at 2:30 you have your pick of seats.
- Margaret SchnuteJanuary 19, 2014Had a wonderful time, the kids loved it and the food was wonderful. Overall a great experience.
- GREGORY SABARESEDecember 11, 2016Tan Tan Ramen was subpar. Served temperature was low enough that we considered sending it back. Meats were tasty and broth unique. Buckwheat noodles a change of pace but unfortunately inferior.
- Crain's Chicago BusinessJanuary 3, 2012Yuke tataki is the beef tartare of Japanese dreams: hand-cut prime rib seasoned with ginger, garlic, chili and sesame oils ($10). Read more
- Jordan BishoppSeptember 22, 2015I expected more ramen options, but a surprisingly varied menu and the volcano sauce is the bomb!
- Lisa WMay 13, 2012Red miso broth ramen was good. So was the macaroons (albeit still a bit frozen in the middle). Very seen and be seen spot. A bit overpriced for quality, rather go to Urbanbelly or Chizakaya.
- AbiJanuary 8, 2014Excellent choice of ramen noodle dishes. You can also substitute ingredients out for healthier options.
- Jasmine ChongDecember 4, 2011Sesame soy salmon, ceviche and shoyu ramen. Finish up with a flight of macarons (yuzu is my favourite!)
- Keith KiktaOctober 22, 2014Recently been to Ippudo in NYC and Katana Ya in SFO. The ramen here beats both in my humble opinion.
- GREGORY SABARESEDecember 11, 2016Pork buns lacked sufficient pork. 2 had 1/3 meat of the other. Hoisin sauce also very disproportionately distributed per bun. Lacked preparation care. Tasty though.
- The lunch bento box is huge and packed with a variety of delicious goodies. Good value @ $18.
- Sabina B.October 3, 2013Get the Tonkotsu for lunch, followed by a 2-hour nap at your desk. Satisfaction guaranteed.
- Fried chicken, Japanese style, for lunch! If you like spicy, try their tan tan noodles.
- Sharon BarnesJuly 14, 2015Hey Slurping Turtle, you should join Freebie! It’s pretty rad and the benefits are great for both you and me. Check it out!
http://taps.io/freebie - Chicago magazineMarch 5, 2012FOT (Fans of Tartare) alert: Check out the jazzy version at Slurping Turtle. Think chili paste & sesame oil.
- Jessica PoppieMay 5, 2012Limited lunch menu compared with dinner. Get there early since they don't take reservations and try the pork belly appetizer.
- Jacqueline EspirituJanuary 7, 2014Ramen was ok but there was literally one tiny piece of meat.Duck fat fried chicken was good just beware of the bones. I'd say its a little overpriced for the portions you get but the ambiance is nice.
- Claire PerkinsJanuary 16, 2012Here's a tip: stand outside the door in the (still indoors) entry while waiting for a table instead of crowding the hostess station and people at their tables.
- Big bowl of steaming hot ramen = comfort food, perfect for a cold rainy evening, don't forget to slurp
- ⓐⓡⓘ✌☠ ™November 13, 2012Wasn't really impressed with the food, or our server for that matter. If the service is bad you would hope that the food is awesome enough to bring you back. I'll stick to Urban Belly > all others :)
- nathan bernacchiFebruary 20, 2012must go back several times to get everything you want to try. great menu
