- Hands down the best ramen in Oakland. The Ramen Shop is over priced and over crowded compared to Sobo. With the addition of a full bar, Sobo is a top 5 shop in the entire bay.
- The miso broths are rich nutty and full of deep flavor, the noodles are top quality, perfect bite and well seasoned, noticeably better than most ramen joints
- Good tonkotsu broth for the 510, not as good as any South Bay spots however. Kids menu is decent. Love the option to add bok choy or kale (in generous quantities), blasphemous as it may be for ramen!
- Brook ShelleyFebruary 10, 2017Pretty good bowl of spicy black tonkotsu. The flavor is a little mild, but the pork belly is excellent. The karaage is pretty good too- small, bite-size portions.
- The tonkotsu broth is fantastic. Get it spicy with tonkatsu on the side!
- Hailey CrowelAugust 31, 2013After living in Japan, I'm a big ol ramen snob. I loved the spicy miso ramen (be prepared, it's got some legit heat). The karaage and gyoza can be skipped.
- Been twice. Love it. I plan to work myself through the menu. I had the spicy tonkatsu special tonight and it was awesome!
- I actually didn't like it at first time, and second time I tried because I really crave for Ramen, surprised to learn that they improves lots. Try the fried stuff, soft shell crabs and fried chicken.
- Worth visiting again... However use the restroom BEFORE you come! It's all the way around the corner & down the street, literally!
- Peter HornbergerSeptember 19, 2015Get the spicy black tonkotsu. I've never tried anything else and don't need to!
- Paige CotéAugust 16, 2015Probably the best ramen I've had in the bay. And you can walk through the kitchen on the way to the bathroom, which I thought was pretty cool.
- Daniel EdenFebruary 6, 2018The country miso ramen is my go-to. Also a great selection of drinks, including plum wine!
- Loving this ramen outpost in Chinatown. Spicy garlic mayu is the way to go.
- M.C.March 6, 2015Gluten free noodles are worth the upgrade, even if you're not GF. They'll only combine it in specific broths though.
- PertzDecember 17, 2014Just okay, but it's the best ramen in/around Oakland. Super inconsistent quality and quantity. Get the spicy miso if you visit.
- Hanna LJune 14, 2013Yogurt soju + vegetarian spicy miso ramen. One of the best veggie ramens I've tasted.
- Stelle LoiJune 26, 2013the right address in on 988 Franklin street #186, between 9th and 11th street. part of the Pacific Renaissance Plaza.
- Fiona M.June 14, 2013yogurt soju is da bomb. tonkatsu mayu was average - I've had better. but definitely giving their vegan ramen a shot next time!
- Tonkatsu with mayu! Delicious! Also the peach soju if you want drinks.
- The spicy miso ramen gets better as you eat it. "The best thing ever" says Jodi.
- michael 🐻🏀February 21, 2014sorry but the limited tsukemen ramen seems to have more vinegar than it's supposed to...or maybe it's just me. beware of sour!
