- BritannicaAugust 5, 2011In 1682 Spitalfields Market was established on Commercial Street under the ownership of John Balch. The market was known for its trade in silks and in fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Call it commercial or gentrified or whatever... Spitalfields has still got it in my opinion. Would spend every lazy Sunday in the side streets if I could.
- Come on Thursday and Friday for great antiques. Try the baked potatoes in the food court for £3.75 too!
