Best affordable sushi in SF! Service can be slow, but always friendly. Try the rolls (Hawaiian #2: albacore and macadamia nuts) and the baked mango dish! Cash only. Get there before opening or wait.

Small shop, just a few counter seats and tables. There's one guy doing all the sushi so expect to wait a little. But the food is really good! Not super classic sushi (is a bit fusion-y), but tasty!

    1) Put name down on board. 2) Wait. Yes, it's worth the wait. 3) Order (at the very least) baked bass, spicy hamachi, Hawaiian roll #1 & 2. 4) Get check; Be amazed at how inexpensive it is. 5) Profit.

A tiny sushi bar in Mission. Prepare to wait in the line and be rewarded afterward. Get Edamame, Spicy Tuna and Hawaiian rolls, these are the best picks Read more

Other favorite sushi place. Small, almost hole-in-the-wall establishment hidden off Market. Space is small, so be prepared to wait for a table (it's worth it).

Be prepared for a very long wait, even for 1-2 people. It's fun to watch the chefs make magic from the bar seats and if you have a thing for baked appetizers check out the mushroom & jalapeno dishes.

One of the five best sushi restaurants I've visited. The prices are very fair for the level of food you get. Try the baked mussels. Be warned: cash only and really long wait with a self sign-up sheet.

Waited for more than an hour to get seated, but the food was worth the wait! Absolutely one of the best sushi places in the city. Get the baked mussels if you're there!

The baked mussels are worthy of visiting again. The salmon sashimi was the best I've ever had. Ordered the Hawaiian Roll #2 for the crunchy macadamia nuts but was underwhelmed. Total bill for 2? $50.

Order: baked mussels, spicy scallop roll, crab hand roll; nigiri: tataki albacore, sake, hamachi, unagi, uni (if available), saba; bonus: mango salmon roll.

Don't let the name fool you. This is a legit spot for solid sushi. Do go early & order the baked sea bass apptz. NYers: think of it as SF's equivalent to Tomoe.

16 seats (2 tables x4, + 8 seats at the bar. Come early. Great spicy tuna & spicy hamachi. The Baked Bass is a must. Uni is ultra fresh and straight from Mendecino.

Baked Mussels are great. Hawaiian rolls are also great. Spicy hamachi roll is great. The water is to die for.

Small, delicious, friendly. Don't bother with a big group - 2 is best, 4 will mean a longer wait. Write your name on the small whiteboard inside on the right and be patient :)

The absolute freshest sushi in town. Unless you know where it is, you may just miss it. This tiny little joint seats no more than 15 people so expect to wait. But it's well worth it. - Jill

Always get the Baked Mussels for appetizers. When going through the rolls, I say try their specialties. Hawaiian Roll #2 (Mango) is way better than their Spider Roll. Cheaper too!
