- wifi in the room comes at a pretty hefty daily rate, shame. The rooms are lovely & bright but the walls are def thin. Would come again but only at competitive rates. Doesn't compare to the Sanderson.
- Syndicate Media GroupAugust 12, 2011SF [Do] Hang with the rest of the SF locals and check out breakthrough acts at Clift Sessions - past artists include Theophilus London and Francis & The Lights.
- T KMarch 1, 2010Compliments on the thin walls! What fun to hear ppl going at it on BOTH sides of yr room. And, catch the morning news - without even turning on the tv! Isn't it fun to stay in a trashy nightclub?
- MikeJanuary 11, 2015Good rates. Cool hotel bar. However - walls and doors do a poor job of blocking outside noise. Be prepared to hear your neighbors during your stay.
- Trulia ProJuly 17, 2012All the best parties are help here! Our tip: crawl under the big chair in the lobby and look up.
- KAYAKSeptember 13, 2011A hotel haiku: Steps from Union Square // Coffee tables by Dalí // S.F. á la Clift. http://on.kayak.com/CliftSanFran
- pc youngJune 24, 2011Observe Redwood Room's moving wall art. Much more interesting than the patrons (this is a hotel bar drawing fanny pack wearing guests)
- Aprile ElcichJune 15, 2016Is this a joke? Great place to stay if your ideal night involves prostitutes and coke, and love to show off how much money you have by paying extra for $20 wifi and $20 water. TRULY AWFUL.
- Tiffany ChenJuly 19, 2011Great stay so far except the shower doesn't drain well. Ask for a complimentary upgrade during check-in for a higher floor!
- Jill BlumJuly 8, 2010Very comfy bed... Hotel seems geared more for romantic rendezvous than for business between the mirrored bedrooms, intimacy packets in the honor bar, and the homeless crooners you can hear all night.
- Jetset jimFebruary 7, 2011nice hotel, great lamb chops. have to be careful at night tho walking about, can be a little naughty outside.
- Get upgraded one of the upper level corner suites. Morgans knows how to treat loyal visitors.
- I don't understand American service. I got kicked out of a booth at the bar while staying in a room here for a week. What's a guy gotta do to enjoy a good scotch?
- John WroblewskiAugust 23, 2011Can't have a drink by the fireplace in the lobby. Too bad because that's the best location at the Clift.
- Stephan SchwarzMarch 5, 2010While the hotel is good but not amazingly (contemporary design and pastel colorS) the bar is certainly one the better places to have a drink to impress. Can be very crowded, which is one the appeal..
- Sarah CarlingApril 15, 2012The tables in the bar are bottle service, but if you're a guest don't be shy to ask if they can seat you at a free table anyway.
- Cak WolfeMarch 3, 2014I truly love this hotel. Thin walls but there are light/sound blocking drapes along all four walls(doorway & window incl). The bar is hopping, and beautiful. Walls paneled w/ single redwood, circa '33
- The best hotel staff in California. Don't be shy and tip them well!
- Court PassantNovember 13, 2010Great little hotel near Union Square, had a great stay. So try it if you're visiting.
- ✈Tom Spano®October 28, 2012Don't valet park here unless you let them lube you up first. It hurts...a lot! $50 for anytime over 3 hours regardless of how much money you spend inside the joint. Lame!
- Paul ChintawatDecember 17, 2011Hotel is nice. Be aware if you are planning on using the valet, it's $50 per night.
- In contradiction to the eclectic and dark lobby the rooms are very light but boring.
- Jason MahoneyOctober 15, 2011AskMen review modification request: crowd is a touch o the B&T side as well.
- k eOctober 25, 2009Get there early so you can get a seat at the bar. Otherwise you'll be standing up all night because the tables are reserved for bottle service.
- Iain TaitJune 17, 2011Read a lot about the thin walls. Make the most of them and enjoy an anonymous earful!
- Great hotel near Union Square. The rooms are comfy and the staff was very helpful during my stay. I bought some stuff online and they didn't charge me for receiving the first 05 packages. Love it!
- Uncle FishbitsJanuary 8, 2010They were kind to this grizzled hoteler... stopped in for a seat by the fire. So warm and nice!
- Jill BlumJuly 8, 2010My coworker was given a key to his room at check-in and upon arrival, there were people, um, en flagrante so I advise using the security chain.
- grab a bite to eat in their "living room" and watch the lobby action. the menu is the same as in Redwood Room.
- CauitieNovember 21, 2013Despite relatively low rate in reviews, I don't think it is not that bad at all except housekeeping does not replace towels, amenities and so on. 😕
- Edmond HilhorstMarch 16, 2011Breakfast is very poor but redwood bar makes up for it. Cool place @ night.
