- Joshua Van DykOctober 16, 2016This is The best bar in San Antonio. Hands-down! The night we were there they have a live jazz quartet it was awesome. It didn't even feel like I was in Texas. I highly recommend it!
- Burgers are definitely great, but don't miss the short rib empanada or mole chicken. Both are uniquely prepared and delicious. All of the cocktails are expertly made, but you might have to wait.
- JasonJanuary 25, 2014I'm seeing complaints on timing. Reserved a table via Opentable and had great, timely service. Remember, Mixologists take their time with crafty drinks so be patient, it's worth it!Upvoted Oct 27
- AlexiaSeptember 25, 2015Nice resto bar away from the craziness of the rest of the Riverwalk. They have a live jazz/blues band too. Bison burger + saltine & chili flake breaded shrimp sandwich were good!Upvoted Nov 1
- Tiffany MeinkeJuly 21, 2022Interesting cocktails and nice selection of local beers. The bar was full, so we took a patio table and it was even better for people watching. Our server Victor was the best!
- Charles StallcupAugust 31, 2019The Longest bar in Texas! Serving downtown since 1933, their classic "Old Fashion" with your choice of rye whiskey, añejo tequila, or esquire single barrel rum blend no. 1 and served on the rocks!
- Nichelle BairdMay 13, 2013Definitely ask the bartender what he recommends! I had the French 75 and could not have been happier. The shrimp cocktail appetizer is amazing as well as the Texas French Onion Dip!! WILL Return!!!
- Dan GarciaOctober 14, 2016Great selection of food and drinks. Craft beer selection is good. The food is very delicious. Don't skip the burgers, or the calupitas appetizer.
- Monica HirstJuly 4, 2013Food is amazing. Cocktails are as good as my favorite bar in NYC. Everything is a fraction of what I would pay in NYC. Cannot recommend enough. Try the stormy high!
- Tobias ReiperApril 6, 2016The mac'n cheese, buffalo burger, and fried apple pie are all delicious, well made, and worth a try!!
- Todd RedmanDecember 30, 2015You must try the boozy cocktails. I can't remember the name of the drink, but it's a play on a Manhattan. The Cubano sandwich is pretty good too.
- Gerry ReidelJanuary 27, 2013On the Riverwalk, but out of the way so there isn't a constant stream of people passing by. Relaxing balcony. Classic tavern with old elegance. Good beers and cocktails.
- Jim UlleApril 22, 2013At Esquire Tavern, cocktails are a craft. The oranges in a screwdriver are fresh squeezed directly into the glass. Old fashioned was made with love too. Well worth a visit!
- Amanda ViolatoMay 19, 2017Got the "last of us" cocktail and it was as Smokey as they said: loved it ! Nice spot overall. Great service.
- René LePaulNovember 2, 2018Well thought out cocktail menu. Yummy food. They are short on veggie and vegan options. Definitely not for those with dietary needs.
- Antonio BurrowesAugust 5, 2017Great find tried the house salad with chicken the basil vinegrette was amazing
- Roberto Bruder AguiarNovember 4, 2013Nice view of the River, awesome selection of single malts, great food! Definitely worth trying to get a break from Mexican Food.
- Andrew MengesSeptember 8, 2013Capone's Revolver is a delicious rye whiskey cocktail with a tiny bit of spicy bitter. So good.
- Jennifer Ray WoodOctober 13, 2013Was nice and quiet and relaxing. However, they are a little full of themselves! Waiter recommended a drink for me, I have it a chance and had about 4 sips and knew it wasn't for me!
- SpikeFebruary 7, 2013A bar for San Antonio visitors who want a taste of the local life. They say everything's big in Texas, but this is the largest bar in the Lone Star State.
- Adam LaiacanoOctober 14, 2014Great list of new and classic cocktails, and a beautiful porch over the canal. Perfect for a mid-afternoon drink or 3.
- The Tomcat Miller String Trio plays American roots music (rockabilly/blues/jazz) every Tuesday from 8-11! Sounds great w/ a bacon cheeseburger & Pecan Porter.
- Brett CopelandDecember 23, 2013Good beer selection and awesome specialty cocktails. Atmosphere makes me feel like I am out of San Antonio, which is always a plus.
- Margaret SrinivasanApril 9, 2015One of the top 15 up and coming cocktail lounges in the US. Great drinks. I have not been disappointed
- Katherine ReyesNovember 15, 2013Try the chile sale and pulled pork sandwich - pretty awesome, even for someone who doesn't like pork!
- JR TaylorApril 14, 2012Outstanding Manhattans & Old Fashioneds...pulled pork is great and the Tacos Con Papas are off the chain! (and spicy)
- MichaelDecember 1, 2016Second time here, and now I'm in love... The bar, the menu, the dim lighting.
- Mary Kate LoveDecember 2, 2014Very cool spot and cool atmosphere. Alamo beer is good! Enchiladas are spicy, food was overall okay.
- Can't say enough good things about this bar. Perfectly balanced drinks, stellar food and atmosphere that can't be faked.
- Michael BrownNovember 21, 2016Great food. Tremendous drinks. Everything's locally sourced and fresh.
- Josh RangerOctober 14, 2013The jalapeno bean burger was awesome! If I lived here, Esquire would be a staple in my bar / restaurant rotation.
- Excellent selection of Irish Whiskey and Scotch Whisky. Longrow is very rare and new to America. Midleton Irish Whiskey is magnificent!
- Lisa SullivanAugust 9, 2014Huge ice blocks with scotch in the rocks. Great short rib stuffed empanadas!
- Dustin ArnetteMarch 27, 2012Really good food! And great beer selection (and the cocktails sound great too). Charming and beautiful inside. Highly recommended.
- Stuart ReeveJune 18, 2018was ok, nice interior, long bar and good band. we chose this place after reviews said it was the best margherita in town. sorely disapointed at the margherita it was poor and well over priced.
