Even bread at Verbena is very special. The simple (exceedingly fresh, of course) Acme version is served on a small wooden board with house-made butter and scales of sea salt. Read more

Good spot for brunch as there's no wait and even takes reservations. Red corn pancakes are unique and grilled country bread with scrambled eggs is tasty. Slow service though...

The crew behind Berkeley's Gather have opened their first cityside restaurant, with cocktails, vegetable-centric seasonal fare, and a glowing wall of pickles.

Hella fancy veggies. Good cocktails, great wines, and the best restaurant espresso I've ever had. Enormous pour of Willet 4-yr Rye for $12. Hell yes.

Very Rich table or Nico's. Imaginative dishes. Vegetable dishes are off the chain. Proteins are hit or miss. Swordfish is divine. Desserts are a must.

Exceeded expectations! Food was delicious- seed bread and meatballs are a must. A little pricey for portion sizes

Verbena is from the team behind Berkeley's acclaimed Gather. The 72-seat space comes from the team of chef Sean Baker and owners Ari Derfel and Eric Fenster.

Sprouted bread with chèvre app and the clams and meatball entree (sounds odd but it's delicious).

Sprouted seed bread sounds like something you'd eat on a picnic in 1967 at a Dead show, but actually, it's fricking brilliant.

Food was excellent.. portions are small...price point a bit high. Did a great job renovating the old Rex Cafe spot.

Duck meatballs are terrific. Barkeeps are meticulous with mixed drinks.

Literally the only time I've wanted to leave a restaurant mid-meal. The lack of service is both infuriating and deplorable.
