- Laetitia Rieck-LopezApril 26, 2017Just checked in here yesterday and we got the penn5000 room it's new and super clean the beds are super comfy and the bathroom nice ... everybody we met from the staff so far is very friendly ..
- Good value NYC Hotel. Plenty of scare mongering reviews here, if you want a modern pristine Hotel Room, book into the Trump. One day they'll refurb this hotel and you won't be able to afford it.
- Jon ShecketJuly 31, 2014Pennsylvania 6-5000! The location is amazing, of course, but you have got to love the history in this place. If you are a picky pants and want to stay somewhere fancy, look elsewhere.
- NanaOctober 20, 2013People exaggerate so much! You get what you pay for. Cheapest place in Manhattan, perfect location! My second time here and I would come again! Have a cheesecake at Lindy's!
- Nick StekJanuary 25, 2014It's all right. But There's no fridge. Instead of this I can not close the window in proper way! It's is a 3cm hole! -10 C outside! Thank you, Penn! You solved the problem of food-keeping, Room 1405A
- Luis BourgesAugust 21, 2016Great location, some rooms are better than the other. Old a/c. Bathroom is ok! Again, the great location right in front of madison square garden makes this hotel perfect!
- Mister SealMay 4, 2017Some rooms are nice, others are complete slums. I am happy to stat in a cheap slum when I know it's a cheap slum, the problem is with the advertising bait and switch of the rooms vs website pics.
- David J.March 22, 2016Nice view of the Empire State Bldg. from our room. Directly across from Madison Square Garden & Penn Station. Big room with not much furniture. Closet had no hangers for shirts or coats.
- Jen RiosJanuary 5, 2017Doesn't get better than staying across the street from Penn station. I'm not picky with my overnight stays and this place is tidy and tends to have great deals for rooms on discount websites.
- Mister SealMay 8, 2017Also, be warned, they will go through your bag if you spend the $5 to leave it in the bag room for the day, so don't leave any valuables.
- Mabel Solano TrianaJuly 9, 2013Might not be the most beautiful hotel in new york but has a great location, just in front of Penn Station, and 10 minuts walk to Time Square....
- Ted PavlicAugust 7, 2014Very old and grimey hotel with few amenities, but good nightly rate and very convenient location. Many sites within walking distance, and the subway and train are across the street.
- Aleksei LossanApril 3, 2019Be ready for a huge line for check-in, spent 3 hours waiting in the middle of the night.
- I stayed here after losing power post Hurricane Sandy. I booked through bringfido.com. Get the Penn 5000 club room. You get a fridge and 1 Mbps internet and continental breakfast.
- OH: How is this thing still alive? If a building would smoke crack, it would be this building. :-D
- Marcos V. Booz da SilvaFebruary 23, 2015Old but a Great deal.. Well located and clean.. All you need since you are not going to stay in all day right??
- Ernest Disney-BrittonApril 25, 2014Spacious and well located but worn down. The furniture is from Goodwill and a step-up from the YMCA. It's cheap, clean and roomie though.
- Cleanliness is a must in this hotel. They don't prop up ur pillows or change linens.
- Hannah McKaySeptember 2, 2015Great location. Nothing fancy AT ALL but doesn't matter. You're in NYC, get outta your room.
- Nick StekJanuary 25, 2014Nice wifi services;) Only 10.95$ a day for slow internet🌞😷 well done, guys! I can hardly memorize the another hotel without a free wifi connection
- Sanjay GuptaJune 7, 2010Centrally located across the street from Madison Square Garden, I got a reasonable room rate less than $200 a day without a reservation. It is the centrally located and the concierge is knowledgeable Read more
- Bill MurphyOctober 9, 2010Their phone number is still "PEnnsylvania 6-5000" just throw a (212) in front and when you call the message plays the song, it's pretty cool.. Had a few jobs here when i was in Paramedic School @ St.
- Kelly DennisMay 13, 2013I agree with all. New tip: the gym is on mysterious 19th floor. Get off at 18, take sketchy stairs. Then find one of the crappiest gyms. The elliptical must be older than me!
- Highest floors must be most new than others... And, back rooms from 8th floor or more, you've the Empire State Building' view...
- Michael BowenOctober 14, 2011This is the perfect hotel for undercover moves among spoiled tourists from the Midwest. Get a room in the back of the building above the tenth floor. Quiet!
- The New YorkerAugust 16, 2010In 1929, Mexican revolutionaries holed up here. In case of spies, they blasted “serenades and nocturnes played by a stringed trio” over a “battery of radios.” Read more
- Jole PJune 28, 2016Amazing location but such frustrating staff to work with and crazy front desk lines 24/7
- Great location! Bad staff! Me being in crutches this trip, I asked 4 room close to the elevators. Woman @ desk says "my job is to check you in, check you out, and take your $!" (still have 2 walk far)
- Ashlyn KyleahJanuary 15, 2013The rooms are SO small, and I agree with the other tips... Definitely don't let the beautiful lobby and doorman fool you, it's FAR from a 5 star hotel.
- Very busy lobby. You pay $40 upfront if you want to check in earlier than 3:00PM. I feel it's a highway robbery for tourists esp if you travelled more than 12hrs and get here.
- Chris R (thechristophe)December 17, 2019What an awful hotel. Got checked into wrong room, which was a prison cell, worn out springs. Asked for change to king that I booked, took them 2 hours and they gave me the key to someone else's room.
- Stjepan SandorJanuary 23, 2014Affordable rooms in Manhattan, not the best accomodation though. It was clean ad least
- Luis Antonio RmJune 25, 2014Good location, it's in front of the Penn Station, you may go everywhere around NYC. Comfy beds!
- London ThePoodleFebruary 9, 2012The official hotel of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Definitely the "it" place to see the WHOSE WHO of Dogdom during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Feb. 13 & 14th.
- Although the ratings might scare you, our room was fabulous and very spacious! I'd definitely stay here again!
- HolidayJune 7, 2016New Yorkers know to Tell tourists to avoid this hotel. Even the seminars that are here are usually shady. Anyway why would you want to stay in midtown?
- chico hamlettJanuary 26, 2014The hotel is good for just having a place to stay. There is no wi-fi and the Internet lounge ducks. It's expensive and the network is very slow so it's a scam job to take your money.
- Murat IJanuary 30, 2013Terribely dirt room. Someone left Snicker chocolate packet and houskeeping didnt take it since i arrived this hotel. I really dont know what to say. Hotel lobby is like a shoping mall. ! Shit !
- The Statler Grille will give you 20% off your order if you show your room key. You can also get your drinks to go.
- Excellent location.random rooms.wanting more. Kind of in courages you to explore the city.which is good.
- Emma Carew GrovumMay 28, 2012Desk staff weren't the friendliest, but room was clean enough -- nothing fancy, but acceptable for less than $200 a night, and great location. You could pay similar for hostel w/shared bath on UWS.
- John WithersNovember 12, 2018Nothing good here, 1:45hrs to check in, then 1hr line to leave bag at end. This is the most horrible, dirty and rude hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure off. You couldn’t pay ME enough to come back here
- They confused everything so we (3 girls) lived in 20-meters room, I even slept on a camp-bed though I paid the full price. We didn't have any free part of the floor to step on, we walked on the beds.
- Room they gave us was bad. It was advertised as newly renovated thru Booking.com but they said this was what we paid for. Carpet needs change. Need more lighting inside room. Upkeep needs improvement
- Wessel HaytinkOctober 6, 2012Great location, fair hotel considering the price. It opened its doors in the early 1900, and it shows it. In desperate need of refurbishing. But then Im sure they'll bump the price
- If you know what you're getting into can be a great deal for midtown. Exp in 5000 club have had good luck getting a clean working room. Not a NYC 400/night hotel by any means.
- Maurio SantosDecember 24, 2010Looks like you are on the movie The Shining! A horror movie. The best thing is that you are close to the Madison Square Garden.
- Anna MagdalenoOctober 2, 2019Nothing!. This place is super old, the carpets are stained, is dusty, the bed is old and scary and they havent cleaned the windows in centuries. Dont stay here.
