The Getty Central Garden , artist Robert Irwin, has re-opened (Saturday 5/26/12) after several weeks due to some minor maintenance and some replanting.
The Getty has beautiful gardens so forgo the expensivecafeteria food and bring a picnic so you can truly enjoy the beautiful landscaping. (and it's a great cheap date!)
Amazing art, but if you like European history, head over to the furnishing exhibits. Tapestries and furniture from Lois XIV castle and more!! Amazing!!!!
Bring your lunch and don't forget to check out the grounds. When I brought my wife here for the first time, we brought sandwiches that we ate while sitting in the gardens.
this is a great place to go when you have a craving for some free culture and art. Just pay for parking and take the tram up for amazing views and ancient artifacts!
