Best place for a simple, elegant breakfast. The sandwich is easy on your tummy. Sit inside if you want to have a conversation, because the Bowery is loud.

Food that makes you feel like home- go for the shrimp and grits. Great brunch, too, if you had one too many Beefeaters the night before.

Peels' biscuits are an abomination. Their enduring popularity is offensive to my Southern sensibilities. A friend and colleague put it best when he said they are "fit for yankees".

It's not worth $18, but the baja salad with tomato, avocado, cotija cheese, and grilled skirt steak is unbelievably tasty and vaguely healthy.

Try the Shrimp and Grits - With cubed bacon, a poached egg, and a sauce to die for. Also, I avoided the hour wait by being one. Sweet!
