You can take a bus(Havatas) to Taksim for 5€, or to Kadikoy for 4€. You can pay with € or $, no need for change.
I find that there is something at this airport which just does not flow for me. The international and domestic flights use the same building ?
Far away from the center. Car is the only way 2 transport. Gözden de gönülden de uzak. Metro yok. Mecbur kalmadıkça ı ı.

You can find sockets to plug your phone or pc all around the airport.
There are two Havatas routes departing from the airport - to the Taksim square and to Kadikoy ferry terminal. You need the former.

New and clean but too far from european side of the city...
Don't forget anything! Otherwise you can't stop the plane :)
