- Larry MichehlOctober 29, 2016This is an unexpectedly LARGE museum. Leave yourself plenty of time to explore and be certain to see the Tom Hanks narrated movie. It is WELL WORTH the extra charge. A MUST SEE in NOLA!
- Kathleen VargasNovember 11, 2016Very informative. Love that everyone got a card like a dog tag and you got to hear the stories from your selective World War Two veteran when you tab it in selective machines.
- AYHJAApril 22, 2017Life changing! I live in Washington DC and have been to the Smithsonian lots of times. That said, this museum met and exceeded my expectations. It's worth its own trip to New Orleans.Upvoted 2 weeks ago
- HISTORYApril 5, 2010The museum opened its doors on June 6 2000, the 56th anniversary of D-Day. The museum is located here because this is where the "Higgins Boats", vital to D-Day operations were designed, built & tested
- Libby LeeFebruary 20, 2014go and watch the Beyond all Boundaries narrated by Tom Hanks, you won't be disappointed! This place has expanded a lot since I was here last (back then it was called the D-Day museum)
- Wilson Favre-DelerueMay 6, 2017Good museum though the museography is off, with too much text, too small (and crowded) passages in the galleries and not enough seats in front of archival videos.
- Bernard BorelJune 6, 2017Wonderful place to spend the day and will take at least the whole day. Besides all of the historical artifacts, there are restaurants and other things to do. A must place to visit.
- Nicole CheramieNovember 27, 2018Plan for a full day to explore this vast museum with multiple exhibits. Pressed for time? Head straight for the 4D movie that offers a vibrant history of the war with rain, snow & interactive effects.
- Steve LeVineNovember 19, 2017This museum is absolutely a must-see! It is an awesome multimedia sensory experience that presents the war really well without glorifying or sensationalizing it.
- Deepti AllaMarch 9, 2017Absolutely stunning experience. I have been to museums in NYC, Chicago, DC .. but this one is the most interactive! Very illustrative and story like. Dont miss if you're in Nola
- Tony TJune 8, 2017The Best Museum of its Kind!!! I've never been to a museum that put things so into perspective as this WWII Museum! Has been rated #4 museum of America, and #11 in the world!
- Louis-Victor KuhnMay 11, 2021Look, I know your didn’t come to NOLA for culture, but this made it to my top 3 favorite museums in the US. If it rains or it’s too hot out check it out. Get a buzz before to get them feels.
- Alyssa WOctober 22, 2016A really modern, interactive museum - one of the best. Go through the road to Tokyo and road to Berlin exhibits for a chronological view of the war.
- Sheldon HarperDecember 12, 2016Its was an awesome experience. Drawback is not enough bench's to see these great movies. Take a cushion, sit on the floor! To read & enjoy everything u need a good two day to take everything in.
- KarenFebruary 17, 2019Can't say how absolutely AMAZING this museum is. Plan to spend at least 4-5 hours here to really get a good grasp of the history here. Warning: pretty graphic images, not always suitable for kids.
- Aubrey LittletonOctober 18, 2018WWII history buffs will be enamored. But this is a world class museum that everyone should visit. There are exhibits on either side of the street that can occupy the better part of a day.
- RaquelMarch 10, 2019One of the best museums I’ve ever been to! High tech and innovative. But it’s a LOT. I would suggest booking a tour. Reading for five hours had us skimming. You really need 8+hrs to do this one.
- eric bornemannNovember 25, 2020Good place for a little history among all the mirth and revelry in town. A good quick overview if, of course, it can’t go into the full depth on very complex topics and issues.
- Charles SpittleFebruary 26, 2018I could have spent a week here. It was informative and reading about all the artifacts was time consuming as it was we spent 8 hours over two days and could have spent many more.
- Andrew CJuly 11, 2018Very extensive museum investigating the US involvement to this global war... awesome to see exhibits on both European and Pacific wars, with strong focus on how it impacted life in American homes
- Nicole CheramieNovember 9, 2018Plan for a full day to explore this vast museum with multiple exhibits. Pressed for time? Head straight for the 4D movie that offers a vibrant history of the war with rain, snow & interactive effects.
- Christina Tyler WenksMarch 18, 2018Learning about the roles of units like the 100th Bomb Group at Thorpe Abbotts and the lives of particular soldiers was moving. Experiential learning was exceptionally curated for all ages.
- Rachel RubinApril 10, 2017One of the best museums I've ever been to. The Road to Japan and Road to Berlin exhibits are so well done! Definitely plan to spend at least 4 hours here.
- Jeffrey GlueckNovember 12, 2023Pro tip is skip the line and bypass the wait for the fake train car to start... You can walk straight from ticketing up the stairs into the museum and not miss anything.
- Todd WicknerOctober 11, 2019This is the best WWll museum that I’ve been to bar none. Covers all aspects of the war from many different angles.
- Boo BearJuly 5, 2019Nice museum if you like educational places. I spent 5 hrs. Ate a nice lunch at soda cafe. Not too large, maybe can stretch it to an entire day. Not as big as the aviation museum in Pensacola.
- The Ritz-CarltonJune 15, 2017This Independence Day, celebrate with a trip to the National World War II Museum. Be sure to catch a performance at The Stage Door Canteen which offers a variety of 1940s-inspired entertainment.
- Brandon F.June 13, 2017One of the most complete and comprehensive looks at WWII shown and explained here covering both European and Pacific theaters. Be aware this museum doesn't pull any punches— you will see atrocities.
- Ryan EugeneNovember 12, 2018Rated one of the best museums in the country, WWII is in a class of its own. There are enough artifacts to last you a visit (or two) and the dining options will keep you there throughout the day.
- aanwarApril 4, 2016Be prepared to spend hours learning! I suggest reserving half a day or longer just to learn the history here.
- Line HintzeAugust 28, 2018Wow! What a museum. One of the best I have ever gone to. And pay to watch the movie ‘Beyond All Boundaries’ - it’s a highlight!
- Darnell JonesJune 17, 2019There was so much to see, hear and read about! I have got to go back and spend more time there!
- Arlene SocorroMarch 26, 2014Words cannot express how amazing this place is! It's a must for everyone!!! Go when it opens because I promise you, you'll be there all day. Don't forget to watch the Beyond Boundaries film!
- Jasmine 💫December 23, 2018Not widely advertised, but tickets for Beyond All Boundaries are $19. A solid option for those not able to stroll through the 5-building campus, but still want to experience a piece of history.
- Jack JenkinsAugust 22, 2016Very impressive museum, it's massive and always growing. I like the idea they have of following the story of certain people who participated in the war (optional).
- Patricia SteckleinJune 24, 2019Wonderful exhibits and movies. It is a FULL day to see the entire museum and the movies. Enjoyed It all and learned so much.
- ATL_HunterNovember 19, 2015Really fantastic museum but honestly it's a lot to see in one day. The European theatre was amazing - can't wait to see the Pacific when it opens
- Nathan LaPlaineJune 8, 2013Everyone should go here! Did the 4D movie, thought this was really nicely done. Did the USS Tang experience, pretty cool idea (your the crew of the Tang on it's last mission). Museum is great!
- Kevin SkobacDecember 25, 2015A really incredible, never ending museum. The newer section is rich in multimedia, kind of sensory overload. We scheduled two hours and it wasn't nearly enough time to get through everything.
- Ed KaiserFebruary 29, 2016Excellent Tom Hanks narrative in the movie which you must see. Almost need two days to see the whole thing.
- AadityaMarch 28, 2016You would need to spend at least half a day to view all the attractions! We tried to cover as much as we could in the 2 hrs we had, haha!
- Chris H.December 2, 2017You can easily spend half a day here because there is so much to see so budget your time accordingly!
- Aksel Quintus-BoszMarch 11, 2013You can buy tickets for all the museum venues and halls at more than one location on the museum grounds. Pick the one with the shortest line!
- Adam HarryJuly 21, 2019Incredible museum. Tickets are pricy but definitely worth the price! Really individual experience. Quite overly patriotic but that’s coming from a British person!
- Wassel MJanuary 15, 2018Was a great informative experience, the place is really organized and including technology in it makes it even more fun, Must watch the 4D movie!!!
- Dijana CotajJanuary 7, 2016This is a MUST!! The best museum I have ever visited! I fell in love with this museum and it's extremely emotional, bring some tissues.
- Benn EganDecember 20, 2015Sweet tap-dancing Christ there is a lot to digest. 2 hours? A joke. This place will consume your whole day. The newer exhibits are like Disneyland for WWII. Learn about Corregidor in a jungle.
- There is lots of construction going on here, so please, do your research before you come! The corner store of the museum on Andrew Higgins and Magazine is NOT the entrance! Entrance is in LA Pavilion!
- Priya TungrusAugust 27, 2015A nice museum, mainly showing the American efforts of WW2. Spent 1.5 hours here, but that was fast. Plan for at least 3 hours. The movie is an hour long to plan that on top.
- Vivian WangDecember 29, 2019A really thorough and thoughtfully put together exhibit. Must do when you are in New Orleans. Take your time to look through everything.
