Miss the people movers. Shorter walk in and out of them than the train, especially for Terminal C.

Franco CalizApril 22, 2013Might honestly be the worst major airport in America. A badly designed mess of stairs and platforms. The trains leave you close to high numbers. Low numbered gates are screwed. Terrible security.
Don't fly out of Dulles on a Sunday evening. It's totally packed. Lines to wait in other lines.
I have never seen security hate their job so much and show it. Take off my sweater? Uhm if I had shit in there I'm sure the detector would have got it. This place I ghetttttoooo!!!!

Jackson SimmondsSeptember 19, 2010Washington Flyer bus is pretty quick way to get to the Metro....if you must use this damn airport instead of Regan, that is. $75 for a town car, BAH! Suck it. So I'm on a bus.
Definitely use the security checkpoint downstairs by Door 4.
Use the secret security checkpoint if you're a frequent traveler!
There is a service animal relief area on the walkway between the C and D terminals.
Stare at the crazy lady who flips out in the security check because her hummus is confiscated.

El SoberanoMay 26, 2013this place stinks. like many airports, they were not designed well. be prepared to walk a lot to your gate.
Give yourself extra time to get to your gate - they are far, far away from the main terminal building...
Not a big fan of IAD! Takes forever to get to from DC and once here it takes forever more to get to the gate! DCA is the way to go!
