The US Air crew that's here (gate 34, flight 16) today is srsly unorganized & inefficient. The only competent & helpful employees from US Air work at the bagcheck on the curb (Bernardo specifically).

Note: If a family has 1 kid but 2 adults, TSA only lets one adult through the metal detector (as opposed to scanner) at security.

Getting a rental car at this airport is a pain. They shuttle you to a rental car area that is pretty far away and will add significant time to your travel.

Don't worry you'll make it. Also unless you're boarding don't block the boarding lane or you might get hit in the ankles by a baby stroller. Just sayin'

Terminal 1 is SW land. Be prepared for lots of tourists - give yourself time to get through security. They are trying to put some more food options in there so that is good!!

Some airlines are more likely to bump passengers from flights than others. You have the best shot at staying on the plane with JetBlue, Hawaiian and Delta. American Eagle has the highest bump rate.

If you're flying to LAX your flight WILL be departing from the commuter terminal. It's a LONG walk from the main terminal to the commuter so keep that in mind....

While under construction it is worth noting that only Terminal 1 at SAN can make LAX look like a palace. Stop at a restaurant or bar before arriving.
