You need to dress for traveling and going thru security. Take all your items out of your pockets and put them a tray before going thru the scanners.
RexOctober 25, 2017Definitely consider this airport if you're flying into the DC area. There is only one Priority Pass lounge, which had been closed for a year and reopened under a new name.

If you packed a garment bag, the steward(ess) might have space to hang/stow your bag in the closet when you board...
If u park at the long term lot, it is very convenient and only 8 per day? The shuttle comes every 10_15mins during rush hour

Lizzy LouOctober 31, 2012Curbside check in isn't always the fastest - check at the ticket counter first. Security is usually pretty slow, so arrive early!
TSA gets the lines through in a hurry, but if you're in a rush they have checkpoints on the lower level!
There is typically only one JetBlue gate per day, so it can get backed up quickly if there are issues earlier in the day.

Nicole MarkhamJune 15, 2013Regretting choosing Subway for a quick dinner...staff at the Subway across from Gate B6 started out nice but turned rude in the 5 minutes I was waiting for my sandwich.
In terminal 1 use the security under the stairs (to the left as you face the ticket counter) - its faster.
For southwest or AirTran flights go through security downstairs. Little known, small lines, moves fast.

One of the easier airports to navigate once the shuttle drops you off. TSA lines are manageable.
Word to the wise....if u have a gate departing from C or D u must enter "Security" through ur gate C or D, if u have a A or B u can enter in either one. C&D r not connected to any other gate.
Silver diner is a good place to eat; Fire and Ice has good sales on jewelry
Matthew TaubFebruary 28, 2018No precheck at terminal A. Precheck at B is usually super crowded. Rental car center is super far away and it takes forever to show up. Overall this is a pretty crappy airport.

The best airpprt at accommodating someone traveling with a phone or computer (everyone) is Chicago!- Did they put the rental cat lot in DC on purpose? Leave lots of time if you need to pick up or drop off. The bus ride is 8 mins, and finding the place adds another 10.

New security screening area open @ C. Access A, B, & C gates for AT, WR, AA, & Spirit from any security area A - C.
The downstairs Southwest security checkpoint is closed for construction. Get here early.
Tavo DeObalDecember 30, 2018American Airlines cree don’t know how to read residency cards, she insisted it was expired and it wasn’t. Make sure you can translate Spanish to them. You cannot pay for baggage without having a CC
Your best bet from the airport is a cab for about $20 or hop on the Light Rail to Penn Station. Light rail trains leave every 30 minutes on Saturdays
CODi Inc.August 4, 2011This airport is only 1.5 hours from our headquarters in Harrisburg, PA and is great alternative when you can't find a suitable flight at HIA or are traveling to other Central PA locations.
BEWARE: there are mice scurrying around the corridors by gate D36 and D37. By far the grossest thing I've ever seen at an airport. Get your act together BWI!

Don't be dismayed by the size of the security line to D Terminal; it may look a mile long, but it goes surprisingly fast! Only took me 20 minutes.
Southwest won't let you use mobile devices during take off and landing. Be prepared to power down

There's a new security checkpoint downstairs in A gate. Usually not many people down there (since many people don't know about it).
Park in long term. Cheaper and the shuttles run a lot more frequently. 3 long term busses for every one daily.
If u ve a flight in the evening u are good even if u arrive 30 mins before flight. The airport is always deserted.
Best kept secret @ BWI? Concourse A TSA screen on the lower level near bag claim. Zero, I mean ZERO line. Incredible.
Silver Diner is a great place to dine for long layovers.
