Don't show up at Hertz asking for a rental if you're on fire. They have major issues with open flame regardless of what their bright yellow uniforms and hair extensions imply.
being Hertz Gold member helps, although I didn't get the premium reception/service as I did enjoy in Vegas. car delivery was quick as usual and returning couldn't have been quicker.
The least painful car rental experience ever. Be sure to sign up for their Gold Members program - FREE - and your rental car is waiting for you. No need to go to the pickup line.
Return process is quick and easy. Employees are kind and very helpful. There is practically no wait for the shuttlebus and they help loading your bags. Will come back again!
A good strategy for UPGRADES-- always book on lowest price category, ask for "smart decision" deal, this allows free discretionary upgrade....on shorter rentals offer to take all coverage for top upgr
If you're unloading from a LAX shuttle, the surge of people will cause a wait. Otherwise, this is the most efficient car rental operation I've experienced.
Dropping a car is easy. Remember your mileage, leave your keys in the vehicle, and use the kiosk near the airport busses. Prints your receipt in a few seconds.
Graveyard shift is an utter circus. Pray you are a Gold member and your contract is right because if you have a problem and have to go inside, you can expect it to be a trainwreck.
Do not hold this photo up to the sales clerks and say "I need one that can do this!". You'll end up with a lawnmower powered Fiat. Which are disastrous for wheelies and impressing ladies below 89 yrs.
If you upgrade, be sure you ask for unlimited mileage. I got a camaro for a good price, then got hammered on the mileage. You don't get unlimited mileage unless u haggle
Generally like Hertz, but the new shuttlebus approach at LAX sucks. Picking up and dropping off on the same route is chaotic and slow, especially for us United passengers.
For cheapest gas on way to drop off your rental car, go to Manchester Blvd. don't be sucked in to stations on Sepulvida or Lincoln which at $0.15/gal more!
The car wasn't in the parking spot noted on the receipt and as soon as we had to stop and wait for the first traffic light, the car started rattling. Wth!!
Get there very early to return cars. Chronically understaffed with employees to check in cars. Yet the "It's not my job" attitude is in abundant supply.
8 out of 26 counters open to help people, half the self service 'express' kiosk are out of service which makes little difference actually as they're pathetic anyway & u'll go back to the line
