Not a good airport for international transfer. If you fly in from any city stateside you must exit the secure area and walk outside a good way to the International terminal.

What an incredible shitstain this airport is. Useless shuttles (all are for parking and employees - so get ready to walk for 30 minutes to your terminal through clouds of exhaust, weed, and urine).
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Hate driving in the traffic? Take the free LAX "C" Shuttle on Arrival Levels to Parking Lot C to connect to Metro Bus Center, or with loved ones at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot instead.

If flying virgin, upgrade your seat while checking in. $55 for main cabin select (free food, booze!!!, and movies and you skip security lines) when flying to Seattle. worth it.

Huge, crowded airport. They make you tag your own bags. Talk about making customers work and pay for doing the work!

Arrive early (earlier than to most airports in the world), traffic will be a mess for the next years!

Welcome to LAX, Rock star! Not a rock star? Then have some fun pretending while here, it might mentally help you get through the monotony of dealing with this airport. :-)

There is absolutely nothing to do in the international terminal. So...walk back outside to terminal 4...go to the lowest level...find The only 'nice' place to wait for a few hours...Starbucks!

If you're in a rush, the extra $20 to upgrade to business on Southwest is waaaaay worth it. You get to cut the security line, board first & get a free cocktail!

Don't wear a belt, come barefoot and buy your clothes when you arrive at your final destination. Saves time during check in, boarding and debarking.

It's a poorly organised airport. It seems that people don't know anything about queuing theory and stochastic modelling. Otherwise, everything would be much more efficient.

When picking up someone park in the Taco Bell parking lot until you get their call from Baggage claim to avoid have to circle around the airport!

Get there early and be old enough to grab a drink before you fly. The staff is infuriating, especially in United Airlines. Be sure to watch when you're flight boards b/c they don't always announce.

If you have a rental get to airport early to do curb side checkin , then go grab a bite to eat, tons of places on sepulveda, return the car and hop on shuttle. Food inside is expensive!

Terminal 4 has scarce charging areas, one sit-down restaurant, overall, not the best terminal for a long layover. At least there is a Starbucks. I recommend getting a day pass to the Admiral's Club.
