Zack WilliamsDecember 18, 2022Compared to some other int’l airports it is a bit of a mish-mash. No railway/light transit connect means traffic is awful. Staff on the other hand are a revelation all mainly friendly and helpful.
Get a seat in front of the walk path in the middle and you're bound to see some celebrities.

Terminal 3 expansions and refresh of Terminal 4 are a huge improvement that make LAX an airport ready for the future.
Protip: stand several feet away from the baggage claim for the best view but expect clueless people to stand directly in front of you oblivious they've blocked your view.
if you're in Delta Terminal 2 and want to get to Terminal 3, take the shuttle bus near gate 22A.
LAX needs a serious facelift. However the International Terminal is pretty good and Customs is SUPER fast and efficient...unlike JFK.

RexSeptember 3, 2017No free wifi before customs. Terminals are not connected by train, just by shuttle bus (for now), making connections tricky. Lyft and Uber pickups are a nightmare. Fly into another LA airport
Spend the extra $35 when checking in....ask for the special "Pants Optional Deal". It's so comfortable flying without those constricting pants!

Get here earlier than usual for a red-eye flight. There may be less people flying, but there are also less people on staff. Only one security line open at midnight.
Southwest terminal was never a great place to wait, but it's worse now with construction. Party on at the Delta terminal! Lots of usb power jacks and good eats.. But more space for pre-flight drinks might be nice!

Probably one of the most disorganized airports in the western hemisphere. Get in and out as quickly as you can!
Bill MichelNovember 19, 2013If you have to leave from Gate 1 or 2 in Terminal 1 (SW Air), bring some sort of entertainment. They both look like sets from a prison movie and are removed from the other gates with no windows or TVs
American Terminal has a Real Food now. Great juice and plant based options
Be patient, since @Delta changed terminals, make a connection from international to national, passing thru security check point, has begun to be a pain in the ass.
I am huge fan of the 'Daily Grill'which has got a perfect Bar to wait for a flight !!
If there's a chance you can fly out of any other airport, do it. Like LITERALLY any other airport. Or just drive.

It is a horror show. poor signage especially to the rental car locations. Be patient each rental car brand has its own busses and they can go 20 minutes without one then three arrive at the same time.
If in Terminal3 (virgin america) stop by gladstone's for the catch of the day. Todays special - Mahi Mahi in Ponzu sauce wrapped in Banana leaves! Awesome!
Your gate inevitably is always one of the 17s all the way at the end.

AmandaNovember 18, 2012LAX takes a little longer to get through than most airports so for a safe measure of time be sure to get here 2 hours before departure.
Big airport, if transiting from an international flight make sure to have 2-3 hr of layover. Staff here are slow and queue is long.
If you're flying out of Concourse C, eat before you get there as remodeling continues to drag on and there's little choice.
Lax-it is unsafe with its overcrowded buses, and lunatic drivers. Also the music in here is FULL VOLUME. WTAF?!
Manoj GillaApril 14, 2013If you know your bags gonna arrive late (happens when u check them late at the tine of boarding). I suggest to stay n spend time in the gates instead of walking to baggage claim. No foodspots down.
If you want a snack, get an iced coffee & muffin at @Starbucks ! I also got a Kit Kat from the Book Store for some quick energy after that long security line!
If you have an early flight and you rented a car while visiting LA/SoCal, do not return it early in the hopes of sleeping at the airport. Gates and TSA are closed until 4:30am. Sleep in your rental!
Christian OrtizMay 7, 2015A lot of options to get to and get off from it, but can be really messy with so many shuttles, buses, taxis, etc.
If you arrive during rush hour and didn't check a bag, have your ride pick you up at 'Departing' to beat the crumpness. Enjoy.
The new farmers market in terminal 5 has yummy coffee plus great food!!
Gladstones is really the only option for food or beverage. Grab a seat at the open seating area near the bar instead of waiting for a table.
Get a Starbucks while you are waiting for your baggage :)
If you're flying @United there is a secret water/soda machine between 70's & 80's gates $1.50!

Recommendation for American: Get it together. Security is a mess and backs up. Plan for that. Restaurants aren't reopened yet. Summertime travel welcomes you to the Cattle Zone. Terminal 4 needs work.
Kate BoykoApril 29, 2016I expected more. Very few food places and shops in domestic area. Plus, if you have an international transfer flight with a stop here - you would have to go out, pick your bags and change terminals.
