The Miami airport has been inefficient for a very long time - unless you are lucky with the lines, at this airport, it is very important to allow enough advance time to get passed security.
To avoid the Concourse D international security nightmare, take a stroll down to Concourse E. The line is shorter and the concourses connect behind security.
This airport goes on for days! It last trams, levels, gates like you wouldn't believe. Old people get lost here or lose their life just walking around. "I've fallen, and I can't get up!"
Do yourself a favor and sign up for a GOES Pass - You will always get TSA Pre and if flying abroad, upon your return you can avoid long lines at customs!
The road to return your rental car is a bit of a maze within MIA airport. Be patient and follow the signs for return rental car and eventually you will get to it
At MIA's international-domestic transfer, customs leads to baggage dropoff, which leads to a new security checkpoint RIGHT THERE!#TSAInnovation?Inconceivable!
Getting to MIA rentals is a long walk and a train journey. Do not be misled by the breadcrumbs and raise your expectation that it is just around the corner
Take the 150 bus from the airport.... takes you straight to south beach for only 2.35!! Better than paying 80 bucks for a taxi!! Thank me later LOL xoxo
Every time I fly back in my country thru Miami I feel like I am in the rudest country of all. From customs to restaurants. Every single security person here treats people like we are a flock of sheep.
If you are not a US citizen give yourself multiple hours for a layover coming into the country. The line for passport control was absurdly long! I bet many of those folks missed their connections!
If you have to fly AA and could not find any other way to get where you need to go (bike, swim, crawl), you should see Efrain for help when (not if) AA messes up your flight. He's very helpful!
Before listeni.g to those AA dudes at the curbside and give them a tip for checking your one extra little bag that is "too big", check out the lines inside first. They may be empty
There are 2 gas stations RIGHT at the entrance of the return rental carroad so you can save time and money by filling up literally right before you return your rental
