Fun fact: The original name of Miami International Airport was Dorothy Zbornak Regional Airport.
It's huge and a bit complicated to get it. Worst thing is to find your car at parking. But is new and clean.

Take the sky train. It's a train that will transport you through out concourse D. Or if you like you can walk the full concourse all 1.4 miles.
This was the longest walk to passport control and what seems to be the longest line I've ever seen. Green Card holders go to the same line as visitors. If no Global Entry or no citizen - get ready...

Avoid traffic, & take the Metrorail to the airport, just like you'd take the subway to JFK Airport in New York !! Coming 2012. The biggest favor Miami will do for both its citizens & tourists !!

Danielle FTVJuly 24, 2012Watch what line you get in during customs check. The customs officer will pull a Jack Bauer and interrogate the heck out of you. I hate this airport. Don't fly AA either. They will f@ck up everything.
This airport is not for the faint of heart, the disabled, or anyone running late. Expect a 20m wait minimum…regardless of your status, TSA Pre-Check, etc.
Taxi fare to/from the airport is flat in most cases. Double check before taking any shuttle bus as taxi might be cheaper!

Cappuccino at Cafe Versailles is surprisingly tasty. And cheap.
Even though the signs direct you up to the skytrain, it's often faster and more pleasant just to walk along the concourse.
Very few vegan options. Super lame for a city that has many vegan options. Subway and Jamba Juice is basically it.
CPR cold pressed juices available in terminal 3! The best juices!!
THE CELL PHONE PARKING LOT WAS THE BEST IDEA EVER.......IF U FLYING ON AA GET THEIR EARLY THAT NEW TERMINAL IS HUGE
Do NOT let Lisa T P anywhere near la Carreta and things black beans. You will regret it for DAYS. She will try to blame it on the dog!
If you use the Skytrain (and you probably will), take the elevators. The escalators are lonnnng - and take a lot longer.
If you don't hit the rental car center 2 hours early, you'll miss your flight.

If the person you are picking up is delayed turn around in the "return to terminal" lane and wait in the bend off to the right while listening to good music or playing phone games.
Everyone should take a moment and thank the cubebs for allowing us to use their airport for non Cuban related things.

SkyMallNovember 17, 2010The D terminal in Miami Airport is massive, now that the construction is finished. It has 60 gates, so to get to your destination faster, use the new Miami Skytrain.
