If you are taking the Acela you don't have to wait upstairs. Go down and look at the monitors on the lower level.
Stand underneath an air conditioning vent to avoid the funk of sweaty folks passing you by.
Avoid the over priced fast food in the station and grab a gyro or hot dog from a street cart just outside.

The ac is blazing near 8th avenue in the lirr section about ten feet from the track listing monitor.
LIRR waiting room now requires you to show a ticket before sitting.
First and last cars on trains are designated "quiet cars." no cell use permitted. Sit in these cars if you want a good nap or wanna read (but not if you're drunk).
Walk with a purpose! Don't walk in a group that takes up the entire width of the hallway.
Zaro's Bakery!! Iced cinnamon buns...and a million other yummy things! Stop counting calories now =]
Best bartenders in the world are at the 7th Avenue entrance to Track 18 on the LIRR...
So happy I don't work above you anymore. Always a mess.
Signage is lacking at the gates once you get downstairs. Better know your gate before heading down.

Be first off the train, otherwise it will take you forever to get upstairs.
Renovation on the west end is kind of annoying... At least they're fixing part of this place up.
If you are stupid enough to wait in the cab line for a ride you should probably do the rest of us a favor and kill yourself now. Life's not for everyone...
Take the stairs; its good for you, and usually faster, depending on your athleticism.
Try the sea salt vanilla ice cream. Best dessert downtow!
If you are heading to the Vamoose bus get out on the 7th ave side

Elvyra MillikenJuly 5, 2012Really big station, but they don't announce tee train track till few min before it boards. Not a lot of customer service in there either.
Friday's has a burger and a beer for 10 bucks, and air conditioning!
Vinny the beer guy on the platform of track 19 is awesome. Only get ur beer from him.
Don't stand in the middle of penn and expect ppl to go around you!
ShaySeptember 3, 2010Watch out from homeless people, especially in the evening. They don't mind getting in your face and you can trip over them.
On escalators: stand on the right side, walk on the left.
