- Used an iOS passbook boarding pass. Was very easy getting through security though a little awkward at the scanner since my phone still had to go through the X-ray.
- TSA Precheck is awesome to skip the lines, but it closes at 7 sometimes so watch out!
- They put these out front when you're waiting to be picked up because the government wants to send you a reminder of how much you're getting screwed
- Taylor Gourmet is now open for gates 23-34. Queen Lane breakfast sandwich is amazing!
- Best DC-area airport option for access to public transportation.
- Shoe shines in Terminal A are some of the best around. If you have some extra time to kill this a great way to spend it!
- You can spot any C list douchebag elected rep here peacocking that you like. My favorite is Mitch McConnell, he looks terrified amongst us peasants.
- "TSA Pre-Check" @ Reagan National for active duty military is pretty much the best and only efficiency saved us 15-20min; shoes stay on, laptop stays in bag!
- Jeremias StelterApril 11, 2012The 3d scanner picks up everything on your body and in your pockets. My tag was flipped up on the back of my shirt..they pulled me aside. Ha
- Angela LansburyFebruary 24, 2014A frequent feline flyer was found flattened on the Tarmac! I sleuthed the solution while on my layover; the culprit was canine accomplice to a jealous rival breeder snubbed by Cat Fanciers Association
- There’s some construction going on at the entrance in Terminal A, and you have to take the escalators at the ends only to get to security. Feels like you’re leaving, but it’s down there!
- If you have Clear and TSA Pre, your time through security will be easy breezy!
- Shaw_GirlSeptember 16, 2011If you're on Weight Watchers but need a somewhat healthy breakfast, get the Dunkin' Donuts Egg White Toasted Flatbread Sandwich. Turkey sausage or veggie, each only 7 points!
- Michael LeFeversNovember 16, 2012Jet Blue flys into Terminal A, which is the older original one. Its not as spiffy as the main terminal but it is pretty cool if you like travel nostalgia.
- DoubleTree by Hilton ManagerSeptember 22, 2011If you have time between checking-in, people watching and waiting in the Starbucks line, bring a good book to keep you busy during layovers. For travel tips and fun, follow @DoubleTree on Twitter!
- Kim KobzaMarch 22, 2012For easy layovers take the yellow metro line one stop to Crystal City for choice of hotels. Crystal City Marriott is easy in and out.
- GE AviationNovember 15, 2011FDR selected the building site for Reagan National Airport in 1938. Much of the land was underwater at the time so almost 20 million cubic yards of sand and gravel were moved onto the site.
- Brooke HardingOctober 13, 2021Welcome to Washington National! If you get in and ride share apps are surging, catch a cab instead! You’ll be glad you did.
- Note to people ordering food at Custom Burgers, Boars Head and Tagliare, you have to use the iPads! Don’t stand there waiting for someone to take your order (like I did). Pay in the hall to the right.
- Lauren Rose LoxtermanOctober 14, 2014The Italian Panini from Primo Cappuccino is actually super delicious.
- Riding BeanSeptember 23, 2016Gets pretty busy at times but does not have the space to move people around efficiently.
- Lots of changes continuing to take place in A concourse, security access areas have changed, make sure you look for signage.
- Hit up Five Guys for a delicious bacon, egg, and cheese.. Or try the breakfast burrito from Cal Tor - best options in US Airways terminal for morning munchies.
- Ingrid HartmanMay 25, 2013If you are flying JetBlue, budget in an extra 10 min for the super long walk out to Terminal A (or walking back to the metro after you arrive). And come on people, take the metro!
- The TSA Pre Check line is sometimes longer than the regular line!
- MetroSeeker.comOctober 12, 2011Word to the wise: get out your laptop, take off your shoes and belt, and don't stand there holding up the security line if you want to get on your plane with as little irritation as possible.
- Bring an empty water bottle. This hands-free bottle fountain is located across from Gate 26.
- The hottest spot in town to wait out your flight delays. Wether it's terrible airline service, weather, or air traffic controller furloughs! And sure...your flight will definitely depart in 20 minutes
- Terminal C is actually two different terminals with the same name. They can get away with it though since there is a bus inside security to take you back and forth between the two.
- The bar in the terminal with gates 35 and above is always packed. Grab a drink before you go to your terminal.
- Oneteam KWMarch 23, 2011First trip through here in a while. Really easy. Just know that you have to exit and reenter security if you switch airlines (USAir and Delta anyway)
- Paul BruggerJune 10, 2013Flying today? Tweet @FlightStatus with your flight number and get real-time flight updates via Twitter. Remember to "like" this tip :)
- I'm glad I live close enough to make Reagan National my home airport! If you have a chance, go to Gravely Point and stand just beneath the flight paterrn where the planes take off and land-very cool!
- If you call it "national" to a cabbie, good luck getting to the airport without a confusing conversation. Quit pretending to have lived here for years, people.
- KarenApril 26, 2023The airport is small. All the flights leave almost at the same time between 5-6. The airport basically clears out for the next wave.
- In the words of the immortal Will Smith, "I'm goin to Miami" well then driving to Boca...but I can still sing the song!!
- Dan FoyOctober 6, 2016Yeah, it's a fine airport, but if you need a tip to select an airport, you need to adjust your priorities...
- Always have more connections than Dulles if you in the region. Small but service is fast
- Smaller airport, quick security lines. Not much at terminals but major renovations underway so there are more restaurants coming soon! One of my fav airports.
- Fly out late night or mid-day to avoid crowds. US Airways has a bus/airport shuttle between terminals C and B.
- Chelsea StevensonApril 2, 2015My favorite airport to fly into when visiting home. Small and efficient.
- Some of the most friendly and curtious people in any airport
- Great airport and the closest if you live in the city.
- Joe LeeDecember 12, 2013The USO of Metropolitan Washington extends far beyond the airport. If you're military and not from here, grab some information at the USO before you leave.
- It's connected to the Metro and close in to the city. Highly preferred over IAD.
- Nice airport, love that the metro is connected! Lots of choices you eat.
- Take the Metro from DC to the airport and save $10-15. When you get off the Metro, if you need to go to Terminal A, make sure you take the shuttle. Otherwise, it's literally like a half-mile away.
- Not a lot of great food selections but you can grab a drink.
