Traveling with a furry friend? Dulles International Airport has 5 locations for pet relief. These fun locations have K-9 grass, a white picket fence, and a fake fire hydrant.
Southwest terminal is tricky. It's in "section" 1 of the four in the only departure terminals. Then it's literally on the back of the area facing the tarmacs, behind the other check in desks.
Be VERY careful if you have a close connection late at night here coming from out of country. They seem ill-equipped to deal both at Immigration and TSA. Almost missed my flight w/ 1.5 hrs.
Poorly planned layout. After a long construction period, travelers still need to walk a mile to get to their terminals. Airport workers are rude and don't care to help travelers even basic directions.
Was never able to leave the gates, and because of that, my visit to Dulles was boring as hell. Was in the C section of the gates and it was just blah. That being said, hope to have a better trip here.
If the security lines by the baggage claim area are too long and you don't have many bags, someone usually comes by and takes you to the employee checkpoint instead. :-)
INSANELY spread out. Give yourself +30-40 minutes. Shuttle to tram to this weird elevatedbus on the Tarmac. I walked over 1.6 miles from door to plane.
