For JetBlueflights, spend the extra $$ on 'Even More Speed' pass. Especially during Spring break. Can save you at least an hour of security line waiting.
If it is insanely early or late at night and you are headed to Manhattan, a taxi is less expensive and quicker than normal. Typically I would recommend the train though. Super cheap.
Bad service for early morning flights. TSA doesn't re-open until 4:45 AM. Recommend that you arrive closer to your boarding time if you are taking a 6:00 AM flight out of JFK.
