MSQRDFebruary 26, 2012Everything in AMS is easy to get to via train or trolley. It's an easy travel city!
Maureen at the Dutch Bar by the E gates is awesome. Good place to meet fellow travelers too.

Free 30 minute WiFi from KPN but the trick is that you can sign up twice to make it 1 hour. Graag gedaan!
Enjoy the tarmac taxiing. May be one of the world's longest gate approaches.
Karl HillerJuly 5, 2013Careful, every gate departure area has its own security process. Get ready to sit for a long time with no access to bathrooms or water once you go in.
You can request to opt-out from the advanced imaging scanner and receive a pat-down instead.
Chewing gum is banned on this airport. You won't be able to buy it here
Free wifi. If you are a frequent traveler I would highly recommend Privium.
Jaq ZJune 25, 2023Most of the toilets were out of tp, so bring some extra in your carry-on if you have a layover here.
Visit the pub in D wing if you aren't privileged enough to have access to a lounge
The somewhat verbally aggressive and self-entitled security people rummaging through your stuff are actually quite harmless :P
BE AWARE!! of people offering taxi services in the arrival hall, they will rip you off... in front of the airport there's the only official taxi pick up place it is safe and controlled.
Very chaotic airport with ambiguous navigation and huge queues.
Not all trains go to Amsterdam Central Station. Read the info boards before you take the escalator down to the tracks, to avoid running around like crazy ;-)
- Find The Rainforest Café. Good, reasonably priced burgers.

This is a very nice airport!! Just be careful with the people who pretend to be a taxis drivers but they are just people with regular cars trying to make some money.

BommySeptember 8, 2019Flight from SFO --> AMS on KLM economy plus can be very bad or fine. Broken tv, no wifi, and no outlets in their older planes. Food is questionable.
